‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 7 First Look: Is There A Stark Family Reunion On The Way?
Fans have a long time to wait before the new season of Game of Thrones premieres on HBO. To quell the excruciating wait, the network just released a few teaser images from Season 7. What do the new photos reveal about what’s to come for the characters in Westeros?
According to Buddy TV, the new images hint that the Starks might finally be reunited next year. The trailer includes several shots of Sansa (Sophie Turner) rocking a new look, Arya (Maisie Williams) on horseback with trusty Needle at her side, and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) looking as worried as ever.
While the details are still slim, Watchers on the Wall reports that all of the Starks are wearing Northern clothing, which suggests that fans are in for an epic reunion. Indeed, the characters are bundled up tight in all the stills and it looks like Arya is on the move. Will she meet up with Jon and Sansa in Winterfell this season?
According to International Business Times, Arya has not seen another member of her family since they were separated in the first season. The youngest daughter has been all over the world since, and it now looks like she might be headed north as the season prepares for its final seasons.
In addition to Arya, Bran Stark is also headed towards Jon and Sansa. The Season 6 finale featured the Night King moving south with a horde of White Walkers at his side. Bran experienced a face-to-face meeting with King of the White Walkers and is now headed towards Jon to address the threat.
With the houses in the north preparing for all out war, the political infighting in the south is expected to heat up. Cersei Lannister may have eliminated her opponents last season, but a few leaked on-set photos reveal that Daenerys Targaryen is making her way to Westeros with her Dothraki army.
Fans can expect a huge showdown between the Mother of Dragons and Cersei and her twin brother, Jaime Lannister, in Season 7. Based on the photos, which include hundreds of extras dressed in Lannister colors, the ensuing battle might be one of the largest to date.
There’s no telling how things will shape up in the south next season on Game of Thrones. With Jon being declared King of the North, there’s a strong possibility that he will seek southern alliances to deal with the White Walkers. Whether or not this includes a meeting with Daenerys is yet to be seen.
In the meantime, Telegraph is reporting that fans might get to see the long awaited Cleganebowl between Gregor Clegane (Hafþor Julius Bjornsson) and his brother, Sandor Clegane (The Hound) (Rory McCann). In fact, Bjornsson recently discussed the anticipated showdown between the characters but cautioned fans that it might be a while before it actually happens.
“I cannot [read all of the fan theories] – it’s very hard for me to follow up everything that my fans comment,” the actor shared. “But I’ve been seeing some of them and I did notice a lot of people were talking about the Cleganebowl – people were waiting for me and my brother to fight.”
He continued, “There’s a lot of expectation from the fans to see that happen – obviously I cannot comment on that… you’re just going to have to see what’s gonna happen!”
With the show officially spanning beyond George R.R. Martin’s latest book, it’s anyone’s guess if the brothers will finally fight each other this season. At least it looks like fans can look forward to a Stark family reunion, though there’s no telling how long that will last.
Season 7 of Game of Thrones is expected to premiere on HBO sometime in the spring of 2017.
