Even in its best years, Brad Pitt’s marriage with Angelina Jolie wasn’t as good as everyone thought. The actor’s former bodyguard, Kris Herzog, slammed his employer’s marriage and believes Pitt would have been better off sticking with Jennifer Aniston.
Did Pitt love Aniston more than Jolie?
Celeb Dirty Laundry reports that Pitt was happier with Aniston and should have never left her. Herzog claims that the World War Z star’s former marriage was a perfect union and that both Pitt and Aniston were fully committed to the relationship.
According to the Daily Star , Herzog worked as Pitt’s bodyguard during both relationships. He went on to reveal that Pitt’s marriage with Aniston was completely free of fighting.
“Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were 100% happy before he met Angelina Jolie,” he stated. “I never heard of them fighting, I never heard rumors of cheating. I never heard anything bad between Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt before he met Angelina Jolie.”
Things changed once Jolie entered the picture. Pitt and Jolie first met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith and allegedly had an affair that destroyed his marriage with Aniston. Indeed, Pitt divorced Aniston in 2005 and started dating Jolie shortly thereafter. The breakup devastated the Friends star, who had been with Pitt for over five years.
“She really loved him with all her heart. I don’t believe Jennifer even looked at other guys when she was with Brad. She would have dedicated her life to him,” Herzog revealed.
As fans will recall, Pitt once appeared in an episode of Friends alongside Aniston. According to the Daily Mail , the Allied star stole the show during the Thanksgiving inspired episode “The One with the Rumor.” In the installment, Pitt’s character arrives at Monica (Courteney Cox) and Rachel’s (Aniston) apartment with a pie in hand.
Speaking of the sitcom, Aniston recently opened up about her Friends days during the promo tour for her holiday film, Office Christmas Party . Although the opening sequence has become iconic in the television world, Aniston admitted that the cast felt odd filming it.
“We felt it was a little odd, dancing on a fountain, but we did it,” she shared, adding that she sometimes watches re-runs of the show. “I can’t help it. First I try and remember which episode it is, I even say: ‘I don’t remember that’ at first, and you just get sucked into the nostalgia of it.”
While Brad Pitt’s marriage to Aniston was based on love, his union with Jolie was more about their combined public image. Jolie tried her best to promote their marriage in Hollywood and wanted to stay in the limelight.
“With Angelina it was a different type of relationship. It was ‘we are the most powerful celebrity couple in the world’ and that was primarily Angelina pushing the public image,” Herzog explained.
Jolie filed for divorce back in September, and the estranged couple is still working out the details of their breakup. The biggest point of contention centers on their children, with Jolie seeking full custody while Pitt is fighting for joint.
According to Us Magazine , Pitt was forced to spend Thanksgiving away from his family . The actor flew to Turks and Caicos and spent the holiday with friends at a villa.
“Angelina did not invite Brad to spend Thanksgiving with their kids,” an inside source revealed.
Pitt has only visited his children three times since the split, with Jolie still retaining physical custody. Pitt struggled to gain a foothold in the custody battle as reports of child abuse surfaced last month. Pitt was recently cleared of all charges.
“In response to allegations made following a flight within the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States which landed in Los Angeles carrying Mr. Brad Pitt and his children, the FBI has conducted a review of the circumstances and will not pursue further investigation,” an official statement read.
