‘Silkroad Online’ and ‘Silkroad-R’ Offer Players A Busy Month Of Updates And In-Game Goodies

Players of Silkroad Online and Silkroad-R can expect a busy month of October; full of content updates and tons of in-game goodies. The popular MMORPGS from Korean gaming company, Joymax, introduce players to the world of 7th century CE China, as they travel on history’s famous Silk Road; the main trade route between China and Europe.

As history buffs will know, the renowned adventurer, merchant and author, Marco Polo, sparked a tidal wave of interest in travel to the mysterious East, when he authored the story of his 24 year long journey along the Silk Road. Polo published his book at the beginning of the 14th century CE and it introduced Europeans to an unimaginable new world. On his deathbed in 1324, Polo uttered his famous last words: “I have only told the half of what I saw!”

Silkroad Online and Silkroad-R allow players to experience the richness of ancient history first hand, as they adventure, quest and explore along the length and breadth of the Silk Road. When they begin the games, players may create either a Chinese or European character. Each of the races has its own advantages, disadvantages, cities, weapons, armor and classes.

The games features the well received “Triangular Conflict System” that allows players to challenge each other in PvP (Player versus Player) combat. The players select one of three jobs; trader, hunter or thief. Thieves attack traders who are protected by hunters. Hunters kill thieves. Traders complete trade runs and thieves kill traders and hunters. Successfully completing the tasks of your chosen class gains the XP (experience) you will need to level up and rewards you with gold to purchase new items.

Silkroad-R is the independent, updated version of the original Silkroad Online. The game is described as follows by Joymax:

“Silkroad-R is a new start for the Silkroad franchise, while still allowing our community to have its choice of playing either Silkroad-R or the original Silkroad Online independently. Silkroad-R offers improvements across the board with everything from improved balancing and level design, growth and skill points to a totally revamped user interface and much more.”

To celebrate the month of October, 2012, Joymax is pulling out all the stops to excite their loyal legions of fans. Players will be able to purchase avatars from the item store for half price. Avatars allow players to equip costumes to change their appearance; ranging from Pirate outfits to the extremely popular “Skeleton Knight Outfit” that will be offered to players in one of October’s game updates. Joymax is also adding new Fellows, POP card expansions, and next tier item upgrades for Silkroad-R.
