Black Friday 2016 Leaked Ads: Walmart Offering Big Deals On PlayStation 4, XBox One, And Flat-Screen Televisions

The Black Friday 2016 season is in full gear, with the Walmart ad leaking to the internet and offering huge deals on video game systems like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as flat-screen televisions.

As the nation’s leading retailer, many holiday shoppers look to Walmart to set the stage for Black Friday 2016 deals, and this year Walmart is leading the charge to creep the shopping weekend earlier into November. The deals that once started the day after Thanksgiving and then moved onto Thanksgiving Day itself are now starting weeks earlier, with Walmart offering sales that start the second week in November.

And Walmart’s Black Friday 2016 deals will be heavily tilted toward online shopping. As the company’s chief merchandising officer Steve Bratspies told the Chicago Tribune, the number of items offered to online shoppers at a discount increased by 50 percent this year.

“If you’re a retailer, it doesn’t matter where you’re getting your business from, just that you’re getting the business. (Making sales available online) is much more in tune with what the consumer is looking for,” Neil Stern, senior partner at Chicago-based consulting firm McMillanDoolittle, told the Chicago Tribune.

Some retail experts are predicting a drop in in-store shopping this Black Friday, especially as online sales make up a bigger and bigger chunk of the discounts. How that might affect Walmart remains to be seen.

Walmart Black Friday 2016 Deals

The focus on Walmart’s Black Friday 2016 deals aren’t a surprise to most shoppers. The sales in the ad released to the internet this weekend are focused heavily on electronics, toys, and video games — which happen to be the most popular gifts on a year-in and year-out basis.

As MassLive noted, Walmart is also focusing on cookware and high-tech toys.

“The deals mentioned include the PlayStation 4 Slim Uncharted 4 500GB bundle deal for $249, T-Fal 18-piece ceramic nonstick cookware sets for $49, Promark 3D Virtual Reality HD drones for $99 and the new Nintendo 3DS Super Mario edition for $99.”

Walmart has already rolled out a number of its Black Friday sales, the Verge noted. The list included some deep discounts on 4K televisions, the report added.

Below are some of the television deals from Walmart.

  • Samsung 50-inch 4K Smart TV for $398
  • Samsung 60-inch 4K Smart TV for $648
  • Philips 55-inch 4K LED Smart TV for $298
  • Vizio 60-inch 1080p TV for $398
  • Element 50-inch 1080p HDTV for $225
  • Hisense 40-inch 1080p HDTV for $125

As the Indianapolis Star noted, Walmart is actually on par with most major retailers on video game deals, like the PS4 Slim, but will have a bit extra on top of it.

“Best Buy, Walmart/Sam’s Club, Target, GameStop, Toys R Us and even Kohl’s will all have the 500GB bundle of the new smaller PS4 Slim and “Uncharted 4? for $249.99 ($249, in the case of Walmart/SC),” the report noted.

Walmart will have some other video game deals for Black Friday 2016, including a PS4 Dualshock 4 controller for $39 and an XBox One controller in white or black for $39. And the store’s corporate sister store Sam’s Club has an even deeper deal on the Minecraft bundle. While Walmart is offering this for $249, Sam’s Club will throw in an additional white Xbox One controller for that price, the Indianapolis Star noted.

But when it comes to video games, some of the Walmart Black Friday deals actually come in a little under their competitors. Walmart will offer Mafia III for $35, but the game can be found at Target for $29.99. Gears of War 4 and NBA 2K17 will also be cheaper at Target this Black Friday.
