The Daily Mail reports that Secret Service agents rushed Donald Trump off the Reno stage when they saw that a protester causing commotion near the podium “had a gun.”

The agents yelled “Go! Go!” as they escorted the Republican presidential candidate from the stage. It was then reported that local authorities and private security wrestled the “man with a gun” to the ground. Despite the commotion and potential danger, Trump returned to the stage just five minutes after the incident to finish he speech. However, he didn’t return without giving a huge thank you to his Secret Service team.
“Nobody said it was going to be easy for us. But we will never be stopped. Never, never be stopped. I want to thank the Secret Service. These guys are fantastic. They don’t get enough credit. They don’t get enough credit. They’re amazing people.”
Trump then looked to the crowd near the podium and indicated that he “saw what they were doing.” Trump implied that it was a group of Trump supporters that may have initially subdued the “man with a gun” in the moments leading up to the Secret Service removing him from the stage.
“You were amazing, fellas. I saw what you were doing. That’s a tough group of people right that… Nobody messes with our people, right?”

Interestingly, this isn’t the first alleged assassination attempt against Donald Trump. Back in June, a British man attempted to grab a police officer’s gun in a bid to “assassinate” the presidential hopeful. The Washington Post covered the assassination attempt and asked why the incident didn’t make the breaking news segment for every mainstream media outlet.
“News outlets have certainly reported on the incident, but it hasn’t gotten anything resembling wall-to-wall coverage. Cable news shows devoted little time to Sandford Tuesday morning and afternoon. Trump’s dismal fundraising report from May and his recent firing of campaign manager Corey Lewandowski received far more attention. Trump called in to the Trump-friendly ‘Fox & Friends’ morning show and wasn’t even asked about the attempt on his life.”
Update 10:18 PM EST: Reports suggest that no weapon was found on the man from the Reno Trump rally. Instead, the protester was rushing the stage and a Trump supporter thought they saw a weapon so screamed, “He’s got a gun!” causing Secret Service agents to remove Trump from the area.
Update 11:03 PM EST: NBC Newsreports that no weapons were found on the suspect.
