Mariah Carey Truly Single: A Finalized Divorce, A Split From Her Billionaire Beau And The Fight That Led To It

It has been a long and drawn out process to finalize the divorce between Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon. The two separated in late 2014 and have continued to be amicable while they jointly raise their 5-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe. Carey quickly began a whirlwind romance with billionaire James Packer while still legally married to Cannon, and even became engaged to the business mogul in January of this year with no final date to the divorce in sight. Mariah and Nick have gained respect, however, for the manner they continue to co-parent and respect one another. A source recently spoke with People on the subject.

“What’s most important is they’re doing it right when it comes to their kids. What star couple do you know that still spends every holiday together? It’s all about ‘dem babies.”

Although the divorce is now final and was something Mariah had been eager for over months leading up to this point, as it meant she would be able to marry Packer, the news at present is likely quite bittersweet to the songstress seeing as that wedding to her beau is not going to happen. The 49-year-old reportedly called it quits and claims have been made that tension began between the two over a prenup that never was signed. Claims are being made, however, that all hope is not lost for the couple, as sources have shared that the two have split for the time being, but are hopeful that they can work through their issues. An insider close to Packer relayed details with the publication.

“They are not together right now. They split a couple of weeks ago. It’s possible they will get back together. They are still talking, but James needed a break. “

Although the rumors swirled that it was Packer who called it quits, sources close to Carey state that it was the diva who walked because James’ behavior was not acceptable to her. A source close to the diva spoke with People on the subject.

“James has not been in a mentally healthy place and has not been present for Mariah or her family.”

Packer’s reps have denied the claims that the billionaire has mental health issues and state that these rumors are simply not true. Packer’s camp is adamant that the split happened because of the superstar’s “issues.”

“[A source close to Packer said, it’s] typical Mariah to just twist things that don’t sound good to her. They split because she has issues.”

As the publication states, it is a simple case of “he-said-she-said” and the truth is really not fully known. Yet Entertainment Tonight has shared about a fight the two experienced in Greece that reportedly led to the split. The trip, which reportedly was meant to be a time that the two could plan their nuptials and relax, happened back in late September and resulted in tension. The publication even states that James and Carey haven’t even spoken or seen each other since the fight that ensued while on their holiday. Mariah has posted the odd happy pic from previous months, but the two had reportedly already decided to part ways in early fall. ET shares the details.

“Carey’s rep confirmed to ET exclusively last month that the two got into a fight during their vacation in Greece, and haven’t spoken since. Despite the fight in Greece, Carey still Instagrammed a happy pic of the two on Sept. 26 — a month before news of the breakup broke on Oct. 27 — in which the two adoringly gaze at one another.”

Although the star is said to be heartbroken by the turn of events, she at least has been able to walk away with the $10 million engagement ring that wowed the masses when the couple announced their engagement back in January. Mariah made sure that the stunning rock was on full display when she stepped out on Thursday.
