Donald Trump: I Would Fire A-Rod
Donald “The Donald” Trump had some choice words for Yankees superstar Alex Rodriguez when asked by Michael Kay on ESPN New York 98.7 FM. Trump made it very clear that he would give A-rod the boot. Trump has been one of Alex Rodriguez‘s biggest detractors since A-Rod came to New York but now he says it is time for him to go.
Trump said:
“I would terminate his contract, personally. I think George (Steinbrenner) would’ve done that. I would terminate his contract on the basis that when he signed, he didn’t say that he took drugs. Since he signed his contract, they found out that he took drugs. … He actually admitted that he took drugs. Now he’s not taking drugs anymore, and without the drugs, he’s a less than average player.”
Trump also talked about the fact that he had a “bad experience” working with A-Rod when Rodriguez lived in Trump Towers. Trump would not go into details but he would say he was not a fan of him as a player or as a person.
Trump said:
“I don’t think he’s an asset, I think he’s a liability to the Yankees. They’re paying him $30 million a year, and he strikes out every time he comes up in a playoff game. How about like $1 million instead of $30 million, because that’s what he’s worth?”
In addition to the scorn placed on him by the Yankees fans and the Donald, A-Rod was recently voted one of the most overrated players in baseball. He is obviously one of the most overpiad players in the game, but his peers still made it official by voting him so.
