Kelly Clarkson has only been dating boyfriend Brandon Blackstock since late last year, the singer knows what the future holds for the couple — a wedding.
The 30-year-old Clarkson first met Blackstock years ago when he worked as tour manager for Rascal Flatts. He was in a relationship at the time, but Kelly Clarkson told Ryan Seacrest that she refused to let him get away.
“We were just in a room together, and then he came up and said he was from the same hometown as me and I was like, ‘oh, we’re so getting married’ — I was so that girl,” Clarkson recalled during an interview on Seacrest’s KIIS-FM morning radio show. “When he became single, I was on the prowl.”
Kelly Clarkson has been increasingly open about her relationship with the 35-year-old talent manager, WonderWall reported. She said Blackstock, who is the stepson of her friend Reba McEntire, helps spark her creativity.
“Once you finally fall in love with someone and you are so comfortable with them, it makes you more comfortable in your skin. It makes you comfortable as an artist and it makes you more confident,” Clarkson said. “I’m completely head over heels for him, he knows that.”
This summer Clarkson gushed to People about her love for her man:
“One of my favorite things is we’re both in the business… He gets my job and he gets how busy it can get, and he gets the sacrifices that we both have to make with our jobs…. “I think as you get old… you just get less worried about the little stuff that doesn’t matter and you focus more on the bigger picture… And, you know, I’m also in love. I’m just super happy right now.”
Even though Kelly Clarkson came from a broken home herself that put her off to the idea of marriage, she’s confident that she and Brandon Blackstock are built to last.
“We’re taking it slow, and we’re enjoying each other,” Kelly Clarkson said. “I’m from a family of broken marriages, but we will definitely break that trend one day.”
