Jason David Frank: from Green Power Ranger to MMA Fighter

Jason David Frank, the man who use to play the green power ranger in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series is swapping fantasy fighting for the real thing: mixed martial arts (MMA.)

Frank is training with UFC lightweight fighter Melvin Guillard and has signed on with MMA representative group Suckerpunch Entertainment in a push towards fighting in the UFC.

“I was supposed to fight in 2007, but it fell through. In truth, I’ve wanted to put the work in until I’m ready,” Frank said in an interview. “I know I have a target on my back. Everyone is going to want to beat up the Green Ranger.”

“But I am no Kimbo; I’ve been training for a very long time. I wanted to get in there before, but I got injured. But I’ll be ready when the time comes.”

At 35, Frank is no spring chicken, but likewise the MMA has attracted its share of fighters from other fields over the years (most notably WWE), and some have been highly successful in the fast growing sport.
