Did Camila Cabello Just Admit She ‘Wants’ Shawn Mendes After His Kissing Confession?
Shawn Mendes and Fifth Harmony’s Camila Cabello have long dodged dating rumors, but fans are now speculating that the twosome, who were first linked back in September 2015, may now be dropping hints about a potential romance.
Shawn and Camila’s dedicated fans flocked to social media on September 23 to speculate that Cabello could have been hinting at the recent flurry of dating reports after the Fifth Harmony star gushed over Mendes and then coyly tweeted out that she “wants” an unnamed person.
Camila’s first allude to the recent Shawn dating reports came after Cabello praised Mendes on the release of his latest album, Illuminate, where she told the singer that she was “so, so proud” of him and his new release.
“Omg!!!!!!! I can’t wait to listen,” Camila replied after Mendes tweeted out about Illuminate on September 23, adding, “Go Canada so so so proud” alongside three heart emojis.
Social media users were quick to speculate that Camila’s gushing message and heart symbols could be hinting at a potential romance between herself and Mendes, who she famously teamed up on the duet “I Know What You Did Last Summer.”
“DATE SHAWN MENDES PLEASE!!!” Twitter user @kylliejen replied to Camila’s sweet message to the singer, while others replied by quoting the twosome’s fan couple name, “Shawmila.”
“Shawmila is alive,” @shawmiladefense wrote in reply, and @camallystar added, “SHAWMILA IS BACK.”
But the dating speculation swirling around Mendes and Cabello certainly didn’t stop there.
Just hours after Cabello gushed over Mendes, the Fifth Harmony star then took to Twitter again to cryptically tweet that she “wants” someone.
“Don’t know why, just know I want you,” Camila Cabello wrote on the social media site, which got Fifth Harmony and Shawn Mendes fans suggesting that the one she wants could actually be Shawn.
“Camila tweeted about Shawn then right after she tweets ‘I want you’… I meannnnn,” Mendes fan @shawnxbabes tweeted, while some fans even went as far as to tag Shawn in Cabello’s tweet, adding even more fuel to the fire that the duet partners may be dating.
Cabello is yet to confirm just who she was talking about in her cryptic message, though the latest round of dating speculation comes just days after Shawn appeared to confirm during a recent radio interview that he has actually kissed Camila, despite the couple always denying the dating speculation in the past.
Shawn appeared to make the pretty surprising confession during an interview with Britain’s Capital FM last week, where he played seriously coy when quizzed about his and Camila’s rumored romance during a game in which Mendes was challenged not to lie.
The seriously candid moment happened when Shawn was asked by a British fan if Cabello, who he first linked to in 2015, was “a good kisser.”
Mendes then didn’t deny that he’d ever kissed the Fifth Harmony star, and instead jokingly pretended that he couldn’t understand the accent of the fan who asked the prying dating question.
“I don’t know… I don’t know that that means,” the “Stitches” singer hit back at the Camila kissing question during the radio interview. “She has too strong of a British accent,” he said with a smile, “I couldn’t understand her.”
Mendes and Cabello have always denied the dating speculation in the past, though E! News claimed last year that the two were very much a couple after growing close while Shawn and Fifth Harmony toured the U.S. together alongside Austin Mahone last year.
Calling Camila Shawn’s “girlfriend,” an insider told the site that the two were officially dating and “laugh nonstop when they’re together.”
