WWE News: Major Update On WWE Superstar Cesaro, Trade To ‘SmackDown Live’ Still Being Planned For Swiss Superman?
WWE Superstar Cesaro has made the news as of late due to his impressive showing the last few weeks against Sheamus in their best of seven series of matches. Sheamus had taken a 3-0 lead over the Swiss Superman, but then Cesaro was able to win last week on WWE’s European Tour. This allowed for Cesaro to see a 3-1 series look, and then on WWE RAW he was able to see another win that brought the series to 3-2.
The two will face off again next week with Sheamus only needing one win even still. If Cesaro does bring it to a 3-3 tie, then it will go into WWE Clash of Champions the following Sunday. The whole idea is that both will end up tying the series and ending up concluding the rivalry at Clash, so we can expect a Cesaro win on WWE RAW next week.
According to Daily Wrestling News, things should get interesting with this series due to the internal rumblings regarding Cesaro’s WWE career. His contract expires in October, and he has yet to sign a new deal. He always could at any point, so we should not automatically assume he’s out of the door. This could all come down to what happens in the best of seven series, however. He is set to win as of now, but you never truly know until it happens.
The whole goal of this is to give the winner a title match. Although neither were told what title they would have an opportunity at, most believe the WWE Universal Championship is the ultimate prize they would go for. DWN claims that regardless of what happens with the series, it is believed that it will ultimately lead to Cesaro being traded to WWE SmackDown Live. There was talk of how the rosters were made up, dating back to the day of the draft taking place, with many people second guessing a bunch of choices.
Cesaro made it very well known that he was unhappy being drafted to the red brand and wanted to be on Team Blue. He claimed it was because SmackDown Live was the wrestling show and as a wrestler, he wanted to be on that wrestling show, rather than one that is centered around the Commissioner and General Manager and not the actual talent performing every week in the WWE ring.
Could something happen in this series that will result in Cesaro’s exit from the WWE RAW brand? This does seem likely, considering the entire idea of this series is moronic to begin with. Firstly, Cesaro won the first two matches he had with Sheamus over a month ago. One win could be considered a fluke, but another is a trend. However, RAW GM Mick Foley didn’t feel there was enough dominance shown, despite two wins in a row, so he ordered the series to start.
On top of this, Cesaro has proven time and time again that he is deserving of major opportunities. He has not held a singles title since he held the WWE United States Championship back in 2012. He held the WWE Tag Team Championships with Tyson Kidd for a time after this, but despite his impressive singles work he has only had one singles title his entire singles career.
His injury did stop his momentum last year, but he has come back as good as before and has performed as good or better than the top stars of the day. That said, fans feel he deserves and opportunity, and it seems that WWE overlooks that whenever possible. The best of seven series should highlight Cesaro, but if only leads to a SmackDown Live move, it will be interesting to see how they make sense of it. At the end of the day, a move to the blue brand certainly couldn’t hurt the Swiss Superman. Therefore he may want the trade both in real life and kayfabe wise.
