Selena Gomez Cancels Tour Due To Lupus Or Drugs? Plus, Is Justin Bieber Rejecting Her?
Selena Gomez canceled her “Revival World Tour” last month and ever since, rumors have been swirling as to why the singer did so.
While some reports have claimed drugs are involved, others suggest it was Selena Gomez’s fight with Justin Bieber on Instagram, which happened on the day of her final tour performance in Auckland, New Zealand, which prompted her decision. As for Gomez, she claims her tour was canceled as a result of depression and anxiety stemming from her Lupus diagnosis.
“As many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways,” Selena Gomez told People Magazine in a statement last week. “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

“I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off,” Selena Gomez continued. “Thank you to all my fans for your support. You know how special you are to me, but I need to face this head on to ensure I am doing everything possible to be my best.”
Following the release of Selena Gomez’s statement, a source spoke to People Magazine, insisting that Gomez’s career hiatus is not the result of alcohol or substance abuse. Instead, claimed the source, Selena Gomez’s decision to cancel her “Revival World Tour” was prompted after the singer “hadn’t felt like herself” for the last couple of months.
The source went on to reveal that Selena Gomez decided to take a break from her busy schedule in order to make her health a priority and as a result, the source explained, Gomez is relieved and optimistic about her future.
However, another recent report claimed Selena Gomez has been struggling with the use of several pills and was recently targeted with an intervention by family members.
“[Selena Gomez’s] mom and step dad stepped in after they returned from the Auckland show a few weeks ago, because she wasn’t acting like herself,” a source told Radar Online, adding that the 24-year-old has been taking “Lunesta, Ambien, Klonopin and Xanax. Not all at once. And more ‘recreational’ than any one thing specifically.”

The source continued on, claiming that while on tour, Selena Gomez was able to hide her alleged use of pills from her mother and stepdad, but after her latest leg of the tour was complete, signs of trouble were reportedly evident.
“It was pretty easy to conceal things from her mom and stepdad on the tour,” the source said, and now, “Some pill-generous dancers are being cut off and cut out… [Selena Gomez] wanted to finish the tour, but her team said absolutely not.”
“The announcement today is to trigger the health clause in the insurance policy for the tour, because they’re staring down two whole legs, with 30 shows, and refunding millions in tickets sold,” the insider added.
Selena Gomez announced the cancellation of her tour on August 31 and ever since, the singer has reportedly been ignored by her former boyfriend, Justin Bieber, as he tends to his latest romance with Nicole Richie. According to a report by International Business Times on September 3, a source recently told Hollywood Life that Bieber is simply more interested in his time with Richie than offering emotional support to Gomez as she attempts to get healthy.
