Kim Kardashian & Kanye West Marriage Trouble? Couple ‘Ignored’ Each Other Backstage At VMAs
Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye West appeared to be pretty loved up while attending the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards together on August 28, though new reports are claiming that the couple actually “ignored” each other as soon as the cameras stopped rolling, as the divorce rumors continue to swirl.
According to Yahoo, there appeared to be a “disconnect” between Kardashian and her husband of two years backstage at the VMAs, as the site revealed that Kim and Kanye appeared to play up their love for the cameras.
“They seemed ‘on’ when the spotlight was on them and ‘off’ when it wasn’t,” Yahoo! said of Kardashian and West’s VMAs appearance, pointing out that Kim and her husband, who have two children together, were spotted gazing into each other’s eyes and embracing while sitting together on the front row, but then had a completely different demeanor backstage.
The site posted a slew of screen captures that appeared to be taken from high-angle live-stream cameras, showing Kim and Kanye sitting together backstage at the VMAs event held at New York’s Madison Square Garden, but pretty much ignoring each other and checking their phones.

“Backstage though, they sat apart even though there were chairs side by side,” Yahoo! noted of West and Kardashian. “They seemed far more into their phones than each other.”
The reports suggesting Kim and Kanye actually “ignored” each other when the cameras weren’t rolling comes shortly after Kardashian took to Instagram to reveal that the couple’s big night at the MTV music award show was a “date night” for the two.
Kardashian posted a snap of herself and West on the white carpet at the event on August 29, where she can be seen gazing into West’s eyes while hanging on to his arm as the divorce rumors swirled.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West also seemed pretty happy to be together at Beyoncé’s MTV VMAs after party, as E! News claimed that West and Kardashian joined Beyoncé and Jay Z at New York’s Pasqual Jones after the big musical event alongside other big music hitters, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Cassie, Alicia Keys, and Swizz Beatz.
Kardashian shared a snap from the post-VMAs get together on Instagram, which showed her standing behind West with her hands on his shoulders.
An insider also told the site that Kanye seemed “happy” with Kim during the dinner despite speculation claiming he and Kardashian “ignored” each other backstage at the show.
“Kanye was in a great mood and was really happy how [things] went,” the source noted, revealing that West and Kardashian were actually “very affectionate” during their dinner date, where Kanye’s almost six minute long speech about fame at the VMAs was the talk of the evening.
“They were all talking about Kanye’s speech over dinner,” E! News‘ insider said, admitting that Kim and the famous gang actually though what the rapper said was “tame” compared to his past rants.
The site reported that Kardashian and West had been spending a lot of time on opposite ends of the U.S. in recent weeks and claimed that the couple, who married in 2014, had barely been spending any time together.
The site also claimed that Kardashian has been contemplating filing for divorce and reported that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star has supposedly already consulted a divorce lawyer.
“Kim has consulted with divorce lawyers and is close to having papers drawn up,” Radar Online alleged. “Before the year ends, Kim and Kanye’s divorce might happen.”
