Is Beyonce Performing At The MTV Video Music Awards 2016? A Look Back At Her Best VMA Performances Through The Years [VIDEOS]
Beyonce’s music videos may have received 11 nominations for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, but the “Formation” singer’s name is still curiously absent from the VMAs’ list of performers. Many fans are now wondering whether “Mrs. Carter” will perform at the awards show after all.
According to Billboard, the official list of performers for the 2016 VMAs includes, Britney Spears, Future, Arianna Grande, Nicki Minaj, The Chainsmokers, Halsey and Rihanna. Jidenna, Lukas Graham and Alessia Cara will be performing at the pre-show.
However, although Beyonce isn’t officially on that list, there’s definitely some evidence that she will take the stage as a surprise performer. Major Beyonce fan accounts on social media leaked the news of a potential performance earlier this month and her fan base, officially known at the “Bey-hive,” has been buzzing about it ever since.EXCLUSIVE: Just IN! US Weekly also cites “multiple sources” confirming that the “Crazy In Love” singer will be returning to the VMA stage.
But there’s even more evidence. There are reports all over Twitter that she’s been seen rehearsing in New York where the VMAs will be held on August 28. As Quartz reports, Jordan Edwin Andre, an actor who will be appearing in the live stage production of Dirty Dancing, tweeted that Beyonce was practicing near to where he was at the time.

Also, the Bey-hive account on Twitter states that her dancers and choreographers have been seen out and about in New York.

But one of the biggest clues that Beyonce will be performing at the MTV VMAs 2016 has nothing to do with her and everything to do with another pop music superstar, Rihanna.
The “Work” singer will be receiving the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award on Sunday. Normally the artist who receives that honor performs near the end of the night. This happened when Justin Timberlake won the award and when Beyonce herself won it in 2014.
However, this year Rihanna will be opening the MTV Video Music Awards, something that she confirmed on Instagram. Rihanna’s music videos are also nominated for four VMAs that night too.
But the fact that Rihanna will be performing earlier in the show could indicate that the audience may be in for a medley of Beyonce songs from her new album at the end of the night to close off the show.

Beyonce has become known for her epic performances at the MTV VMAs. Who can forget when she descended from the ceiling like a female James Bond in 2006 to perform “Ring The Alarm”?

In 2009, the year Kanye West stole Taylor Swift’s thunder at the VMAs, she appeared on stage with an army of clones to perform “Sweet Dreams” and one of biggest Beyonce songs ever, “Single Ladies.”
