Lamar Odom Finally Getting Help For Drug Addiction After Khloe Kardashian Files For Divorce?
Is Lamar Odom getting help for his addiction to drugs?
According to a new report, the former NBA player is seeking treatment from Michael Jackson’s former doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, in hopes of kicking his habit nearly one year after he suffered a near-fatal overdose at a legal brothel in Pahrump, Nevada.
“From years of hardcore partying and drug use, [Lamar Odom]’s done some damage to his organs and his heart,” a source told Hollywood Life on August 4. “He’s got a serious addiction and it’s one he doesn’t know how to handle. He really wants to live and has been consulting with Dr. Conrad Murray on how to take care of himself.”

Last week, after Lamar Odom got drunk and boarded a plane, where he proceeded to vomit on himself, an Us Weekly source claimed. His two kids, Lamar Jr. and Destiny, were “so upset” about their father’s behavior. As a source revealed, Lamar Odom planned to travel to New York City to rebuild his life following his wife Khloe Kardashian’s divorce filing, but at the time of the report, it didn’t seem to be happening. Instead, Odom had reportedly began frequenting strip clubs while drinking heavily and smoking pot.
On July 22, Lamar Odom’s family became so worried about the former athlete that they planned to stage an intervention. According to Us Weekly, Lamar Odom’s ex-wife, Liza Morales, his aunt, Janean Mercer, and his kids, Lamar Jr. and Destiny, teamed up with addiction specialist Ron Dock in hopes of transporting Odom to the Darryl Strawberry Recovery Center in Florida. Unfortunately, a childhood friend tipped off Odom and he fled his Manhattan hotel room.
Although the family’s efforts were unsuccessful at the time, the Hollywood Life source claims Lamar Odom has since turned over a new leaf.
“[Lamar Odom]’s found great comfort in the good doc. Dr. Murray’s told Lam flat out that he must stop using all substances, including alcohol, cigarettes, the works,” the insider continued.
“The Dr. has customized a healthy workout regime that will help strength Lam’s heart and keep his mind active. He’s also told Lamar that sleep is his best friend and recommended he get no less than 8.5 hours each night.”
“The doc doesn’t prescribe [Lamar Odom] any medications but has encouraged him to go to rehab repeatedly,” the source added. “As a doctor, he’s known many patients fall incredibly ill and even die as a result of neglecting the body and he told Lamar he doesn’t want him to be another cadaver on the medical examiner’s table. Ultimately, it’s up to Lamar to follow Dr. Murray’s advice to live.”

Following Lamar Odom’s drug overdose last year, he and Khloe Kardashian began spending tons of time together. In addition to rushing to be at his side immediately after news broke that he was in a coma, Khloe Kardashian continued to support Lamar Odom after he was transported to a Los Angeles hospital and rented him a home near her family in Calabasas, California.
While Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian seemed to be on the verge of a reunion just months ago, and even spoke of a second wedding during an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians Season 12, Kardashian opted to re-file divorce documents in May following rumors of Odom’s drug relapse and renewed drinking habits. Since then, Kardashian has moved on with her life in Los Angeles as Lamar Odom continues to stay in New York.
