The latest round of new album speculation got fans seriously excited on social media with a number of Spears’ biggest fans commenting on the rumors.
“New Britney album up for pre-order tonight??? These rumors are playing with my emotions,” Twitter user @rachelpage tweeted out and @briannmolinaa wrote on the social media site, “When you thought you were ready for B9 and then it’s coming and [you] realize you’re not ready!!!”
“She could be going to Jimmy Kimmel Live! tonight to announce that the pre-order will be available at midnight! #B9,” Twitter account @MusicNewsRumors then tweeted out amid the speculation.
Britney Spears fans will have to tune in to Jimmy Kimmel Live! to see if Spears spills the beans on the release of her ninth studio album, though Spears has been dropping hints about what fans can expect from her first release since 2013’s Britney Jean over the past few months.
Britney most recently teased her upcoming new album in an interview with E! News, where Spears admitted that her ninth studio album is “not so poppy” in line with the lead single, “Make Me.”
“It’s a little melodic, a little more not so poppy,” Britney admitted, describing the release as being “kind of chill. Very chill.”
Though Spears played coy when it came to dishing any further details, she did tell the site that releasing a new album is “very exciting” for her. “I’ve been working on this project for a year and a half now, almost two years so it really means a lot to me. It’s my baby,” Britney said in June.
Spears also spoke candidly about her new album with V magazine in February, admitting that she was being “more hands on” with her as yet untitled album that she was with Britney Jean.
“Honestly, I’m just particular with this record,” Spears continued at the time. “It’s my baby, and so I really want it done right.”
Britney played coy when it came to dishing any further details, though she did tell the magazine that she opted to take a different direction than with her previous albums.
“It’s very different; it’s not what you would think at all,” Spears said, admitting that she’s “proud” of her work. “I just want it to be done right so that my fans will truly appreciate it.”
