Orange Is the New Black Season 4 has come to a close and speculation has turned to OINTB ‘s fifth season, which Netflix has confirmed to be hitting their streaming service next year. However, after Season 4’s explosive finale, what’s next for the prison drama? Season 5 is sure to introduce new cast members, whilst also bringing back fan favorite characters, all wrapped around a brand new storyline that is sure to consume to the inmates of Litchfield for another season of prison drama.

When will Season 5 of Orange Is the New Black hit Netflix? According to the Christian Times , Orange Is the New Black is expected to be released by Netflix next summer , with all episodes available to watch on the streaming service right away. Netflix is known for keeping a strict schedule when it comes to its original programming. With that in mind, there’s little reason for Netflix to stray away from their usual summer release date for OITNB , with the new season expected to reach the service during June.

That being said, Netflix is adding more original programming to its lineup than ever before. With that taken into consideration, the streaming service could see fit to bring forward or postpone the release of Orange Is the New Black Season 5 in order to accommodate other items of programming in their 2017 schedule.
In terms of Orange Is the New Black Season 5’s storyline, that’s very much up in the air as it stands. The end of Season 4 saw Litchfield’s inmates rioting over the death of Poussey Washington, and it’s largely expected that the show’s next season will deal with the repercussions of that. That being said, there could be more deaths in store before the end of Orange Is the New Black Season 5. If the aforementioned rioting continues into the new season, Litchfield could potentially become an even more dangerous place for its inmates.
At the same time, when the riot comes to an end, it’s sure to have some pretty serious repercussions for those involved. Orange Is the New Black ‘s writers will have the potential to move some characters out of the prison and into a high-security facility, forcing us to say goodbye to some of the series’ most prominent characters.

Turmoil is definitely ahead for the inmates of Litchfield Penitentiary and with the potential for several key players to lose their places, the prison is undeniably going to see a new leader arise from the crowd. According to Hall of Fame Magazine , actress Laura Gomez recently revealed that her character, Blanca Flores, will emerge as the leader of Litchfield in Orange Is The New Black , a coveted position that’s been held by a number of characters, including the main protagonist Piper Chapman, played Taylor Schilling.

Fans were left a little concerned following the conclusion of Orange Is the New Black Season 4 that the series was abandoning Chapman’s storyline. However, the upcoming season is set to see Chapman once again fall into the arms of Alex Vause, played by Laura Prepon.
As aforementioned, Orange is the New Black Season 5 is set to return to Netflix in the summer of 2017. With it, the new season is likely to bring further turmoil for the inmates of Litchfield Penitentiary and will likely answer some key questions that were left unanswered in the show’s most recent season. However, fans of Orange Is the New Black will have to wait a little under a year before those all important questions are answered.
