Jake Gyllenhaal Returns To Old Flame Dakota Johnson’s Stomping Ground

Jake Gyllenhaal keeps coming back to New York, his old flame Dakota Johnson’s stomping round. This got the fans wondering if the rumors about him trying to pursue Fifty Shades of Grey star are still true. This time, he is back in the big apple to shoot a film and will return again soon enough to star in a Broadway play.

The 35-year-old actor was seen filming his next movie, Okja, in New York this past week, often appearing on the streets of Manhattan in the look of his character.

Jake Gyllenhaal’s big mustache turned heads this week when he stepped out to walk his dog in New York, according to Daily Mail. Some of the luckier passersby had a chance to catch a glimpse of scenes from Okja as well.

The thing that surprised his fans the most was that he was not just walking his dog, but was also accompanied by “a mystery girl, who dressed in cuffed denim bottoms with a white blouse and gladiator sandals.” As rumors involving him and Dakota Johnson had circulated heavily last month, this spotting must have been a little awkward.

Just a few weeks ago, Belfast Telegraph reported that “Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly determined to win ex-love Dakota Johnson back.” The story stated they were dating for a short while before he got cold feet and withdrew from the quickly budding relationship. This happened five years ago and since then, Dakota has dated Matthew Hitt, whom she broke up with earlier this summer.

“Even though it was just a fling, Dakota had really strong feelings for him so when he dumped her out of the blue, she was really shocked,” a source said according to Belfast Telegraph. “But it was all because Jake freaked out, as he’s a bit of a commitment-phobe.”

But with the 35-year-old actor returning to New York to take part in a Broadway play, things might be in the stars for their reunion to happen.

“Jake Gyllenhaal is planning a return to Broadway next year, headlining the first show in a longtime event space that is reopening as a theater,” reports New York Times. “Mr. Gyllenhaal will star in “Burn This,” a play by Lanford Wilson that had a previous run on Broadway, from 1987 to 1988.”

This is a tempting role for Jake as he will be playing Pale, who is a “fiery, foul-mouthed, flirty” man that has been played by John Malkovich and Edward Norton.

As for Dakota Johnson, she is back in Los Angeles after wrapping the filming for Fifty Shades Darker. She immediately took to Instagram to show how odd the sky in Los Angeles looks due to the intense forest fires that have been raging in the region.

To celebrate the end of a long film shoot, she also “dyed her hair blonde,” a complete change from the long brown locks that her character Anastasia Steele boasts. Nothing like a quick makeover to lift the mood as the summer is coming to a close.

She had a great time shooting Fifty Shades in Canada and France. She was caught making out with her hot co-star Jamie Dornan, spotted wearing a tiny yellow bikini in Nice, and even went out for lunch with Jamie’s wife Amelia Warner, who just gave birth to her second baby before joining him on set.

Dakota also had fun with a new co-star, Rita Ora, who appears in the movie as Anastasia’s sister. Nothing like some serious girl bonding time on set.

As for her trip to the East Coast, considering her ex-boyfriend Matthew Hitt resides in New York, she probably won’t hurry to make it out there, which may be a bit of a shame for Jake Gyllenhaal.
