Nicki MInaj’s BF Meek Mill On Melania Trump: She Wrote Dat?
Meek Mill, Nicki Minaj’s boyfriend, is known for being irritated by rappers who use ghostwriters to write their rap songs, and has on many occasions specifically targeted Drake. For example, in Meek Mill’s recent song, “All the Way Up” featuring Fat Joe and Remy Ma, he included the following line criticizing Drake’s use of ghostwriters:
“This is hip-hop, you ain’t write it, don’t record it. I don’t know how they gettin’ down ‘cross the border.”
However, he seems to have found someone else to pick on, and that is Melania Trump, Donald Trump’s wife.

This was after she reportedly read out a speech that was apparently partially plagiarized from Michelle Obama’s 2008 Democratic convention statement. On his Instagram page, Meek Mill tagged Melania Trump’s image with the following caption, “Ima ask again ‘she wrote Dat’?? Or is it just cool. I been stop taking tv serious, this is confusing lol.”
However, as is usually the case with the Trumps and their controversial statements and utterances, Melania appears to have just gotten away with it after posting a letter on Twitter from the staffer who helped piece it together. In it, the in-house staff writer for the Trumps, Meredith Mciver, offered her apology for the plagiarism error, but she also took care to highlight that she was looking to adopt parts of Michelle Obama’s speech, as Obama was one of those people that Melania adored.
Looking at the fans’ response to Meek Mill’s Instagram post about Melania Trump’s speech, many of them found it hilarious, especially taking into account his personal campaign for rappers to always write their own raps for a level playing field. The following were some of the comments from his fans in regards to Melania Trump’s plagiarism.
zac_corbeau32: BOI SHE OUT HERE LOOKIN LIKE DRAKE
thelastdyingbreed: Drake’s ghost writer, wrote it for her.
cheche_koolaid: If u ain’t write it don’t record it,idk how they gettin down cross the border

_onlyzay: Her and Drake related @meekmill”
The following is a video of her speech.
The plagiarism was discovered by Jarrett Hill while listening to a live stream of Melania Trump’s speech. Upon hearing her opening statement it, he instantly realized that he had heard parts of it before. He tweeted about it, pointing out that she had plagiarized Michelle Obama’s 2008 Convention speech.

He shared the following about his fascination with that particular speech by Michelle, while speaking to Vox.
“I’ve always been a big fan of the Obamas and was watching with bated breath in 2008. I particularly remember this one quote: ‘the only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them.’ [Watching Michelle] I remember thinking, ‘Whoa, that was really well done.’
Obviously I had no idea eight years later it would come back to play in such a big way for the country and myself. When I heard it in on Monday it was very familiar. I ended up saying the words ‘and your willingness to work for them’ back to the screen, which is when I had a moment of Oh, I know that line … Oh my God, I know that line.”
Jarrett Hill, however, pointed out the current disturbing trend among politicians of dwelling on trivial issues to get a political edge. According to his statement, if it had been the other way round and Michelle Obama had been caught plagiarizing, then the whole thing would have been blown out of proportion by Trump’s side, and the president would be painted as a leader leading from behind.
