Johnny Depp currently does not intend to go back to Los Angeles as the divorce from Amber Heard plays out in the public spotlight. Instead, Depp is staying on his private island, and his daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, visited him there in the Bahamas, a source told People .
“He has no plans to return to L.A.,” revealed the insider. “He misses nothing about L.A. but his kids, and they are visiting him in the Bahamas.”
In addition to enjoying spending time with his 17-year-old daughter on the island, Johnny is looking forward to a visit from his 14-year-old son, Jack. The teenager will travel to see his dad along with his mom, Vanessa Paradis.
Depp appreciates having company, according to the source. While he is missing his children, he also wants to have pals around him. As a result, both his youngsters and friends are traveling to the island to see Johnny.
“Having his kids around is always great for him. He has really missed his kids,” emphasized the insider. “[Friends are] flying back and forth for visits [to the island]. He likes being surrounded by people and everyone is trying to cheer him up.”
Depp headed to his island after finishing up the European phase of his band’s tour. The Hollywood Vampires band tour commitments will, however, require Johnny to head back to the United States in July. As for how Depp feels about the return to the U.S. for his concert tour with The Hollywood Vampires, the insider revealed that the actor is enthusiastic.
“He seems excited about the concerts,” added the source.
There was a possibility that Johnny would go back to Los Angeles for a court hearing about Heard’s restraining order against him. However, the potential for a return changed when the hearing about extended Amber’s temporary restraining order was rescheduled for August.
About one week after the divorce filing, Heard received the restraining order amid accusations that Depp was guilty of domestic violence. However, the lawyer representing Johnny, Laura Wasser, responded to the allegations of abuse by insisting that Amber was making those claims for financial gain.
“[Heard] is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse,” challenged Wasser.
Anticipating that he would need to go back to Los Angeles for that court hearing, Depp had been anxious, according to the source.
“Johnny was very nervous about the court date. He really didn’t want to return to L.A. for court.”
Rather than have his day in court and respond to the abuse allegations raised by Heard, Depp wants the divorce to be settled away from court, according to the insider.
“He doesn’t talk badly about Amber and just wants to move on,” added the source.
Turning to Instagram, Lily-Rose defended her father without specifically referring to Heard or the divorce drama. In her caption, Depp’s daughter emphasized her love and described what she had observed in terms of his “loving” personality.
“My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know, he’s been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same,” wrote Lily-Rose.
But Heard’s accusations of domestic violence have exploded into the public spotlight. Amber initially filed for the restraining order against Johnny at the end of May, a few days after she filed for divorce from the actor. The 30-year-old actress alleged that Depp, 53, tossed an iPhone at her face. That temporary restraining order now remains until August 15, according to the Daily Mail .
In addition to the allegations of domestic abuse made by Amber, Heard’s friend iO Tillett Wright offered her own claims that the actress was attacked “many times.” Wright clarified that she called 911 because she was worried that Amber would never take that action.
“I called 911 because she never would. I was on the phone with both of them and heard it drop, heard him say, ‘What if I pulled your hair back?’ and her scream for my help, I wondered like so many times before if I should break the code of silence that surrounds celebrities and invite the police into the situation,” recalled Wright.
Heard’s friend also opined that whenever Amber was attacked, she focused first on protecting Depp rather than protecting herself.
“Every time it happened, her first thought was about protecting him… I know this because I went to their house. I saw the pillow with my own eyes. I saw the busted lip and the clumps of hair on the floor.”
