‘The Conjuring 2’: Man Dies While Watching The Horror Flick, Then His Body Disappears
The Conjuring 2 hit theaters worldwide in early June, and already there is an alleged disturbing situation that took place in India. Whether the story is true or not, you’ll likely agree the incident is completely bone-chilling.
According to police, a 65-year-old man was watching The Conjuring 2 Thursday night at the Sri Balasubramaniar Cinemas in Tiruvannamalai, a small town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, the Times of India reports. He was there at the movie with a friend, and during an especially scary scene, the unidentified man began to experience and complain of chest pains. Soon after, he fainted during the climax of The Conjuring 2 and was rushed to the Old Government Hospital, where doctors pronounced the man had died.

After the man was pronounced dead, hospital staff ordered his body to be taken to the Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital on the outskirts of town for postmortem.
The man’s body then disappeared.
His body was never delivered to the hospital for the postmortem, and now the body as well as the friend are missing. Police are hunting for both the friend and the body of the deceased, according to Metro. They reportedly don’t know the identity of the deceased man and are interviewing rickshaw drivers and lodges in town to find out that crucial information. It is known that both men are from Andhra Pradesh.

The Conjuring 2 is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2013 original, which stars Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren, a real-life married couple who are paranormal investigators. In The Conjuring 2, the pair travels to London to “help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits,” according to IMDb.
The Conjuring 2 has received mostly positive praise from critics. USA Today writes The Conjuring 2 is “a freakier follow-up featuring creepy kids, villains who’ll keep you up at night and camerawork that puts moviegoers in a state of impending dread.”
While it isn’t clear what exactly happened to the man who reportedly died of a heart attack while watching The Conjuring 2, the friend who was to transport the body to the other hospital for a postmortem has not done so for any number of possible reasons. There is likely a rational explanation for the man’s death and the disappearance of his body; however, once the story came out, it spread like wildfire on social media, and all types of supernatural-themed theories have begun sprouting up everywhere.
The Telegraph reports the story “has fueled a wave of supernatural panic on social media that has accompanied [The Conjuring 2’s] release.”

Not everyone is convinced any of this even happened. Some believe it’s a marketing stunt designed to boost The Conjuring 2’s rating since it has slipped from the number-one spot to the number-three spot this weekend. A writer for Uproxx reports “at the risk of sounding crass, it’s not unreasonable to be a bit skeptical about this claim. It sounds like an urban legend.” The writer also notes The Conjuring 2 wouldn’t be the first scary movie to have an urban legend surrounding it.
The Conjuring 2 has already grossed more than $104 million worldwide since its release in early June, according to the Daily Mail.
