Paul Michael Glaser Marijuana Charge: TV’s ‘Starsky’ Fighting To Clear His Name
Paul Michael Glaser is fighting a drugs charge over what he claims is medical marijuana purchased from California. The 69-year-old actor, most famous for playing David Starsky in 1970s cop drama Starsky & Hutch, is facing charges in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
According to Daily News, Paul Michael Glaser’s attorneys entered a not guilty plea on Thursday on behalf of the actor, who remains at home in Venice, California.
Bowling Green police charged Glaser with possession of marijuana and a pipe on May 10, 2012. He was arrested by officers after police were informed by an anonymous caller that a man was smoking marijuana in a hotel.
According to the police citation, Glaser’s room was searched where a pipe containing burnt marijuana residue was found. Glaser acknowledged that the substance was medical marijuana and claimed it was prescribed to him in California.
Glaser’s arrest came mere hours after he had read an excerpt of his young adult novel, Chrystallia and the Source of Light, at a nearby middle school.
Since Starsky & Hutch left screens in 1979, Paul Michael Glaser has appeared in several films including The Running Man (1987) and the 2004 remake of Starsky & Hutch, where he appeared as the ‘original Dave Starsky.’
