‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6: Episode 8 ‘No One’ Predictions
The title of Episode 8 of Game of Thrones’ sixth season, titled “No One,” seems like a pretty good indicator that fans will get a lot of screen time in relation to Arya and the House of Black and White. That is a good thing after what happened to her in Episode 7, but what else could happen in this episode?
Spoiler alert: This article contains information and speculation about Episode 8 of HBO’s Game of Thrones sixth season. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid potential spoilers.
The official synopsis is as follows.
“While Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) weighs his options, Cersei (Lena Headey) answers a request. Tyrion’s (Peter Dinklage) plans bear fruit. Arya (Maisie Williams) faces a new test.”
Episode 7 of Game of Thrones is written by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss and directed by Mark Mylod.
The official teaser video for Episode 8 of Game of Thrones is below.
So what can we expect from Episode 8 of Game of Thrones? Well, let’s start with that title and what it will mean for Arya Stark (Maisie Williams).
In Episode 7, fans saw Arya stabbed by the Waif (Faye Marsay). Arya managed to end up in the river and it seemed — to the Waif, at least — that she was dead. After she staggered out of the water, still trailing blood, Arya walked through the marketplace in broad daylight as if she was looking for trouble. But was that her plan all along?
Vanity Fair has a pretty good theory on what Arya is actually doing. Previously, fans had seen Arya hiding in a dark room with her sword, Needle. Is this where Arya was staggering to? Was she perhaps trying to lure the Waif out once more so she could kill her in the dark? After all, that is what Arya has spent the majority of Season 6 of Game of Thrones doing: fighting blind. If she can kill the Waif and present her face to the House of Black and White, it should mean she will be free of her debt.
Another interesting theory about Episode 8 of Game of Thrones involves the promotional still above that may or may not have been officially released by HBO but is now widely accepted as part of the official stills. Speculation has run rife since one fan suggested the character (or shadow) behind the Waif is, in fact, the man who first taught her how to fight, Syrio Forel (Miltos Yerolemou).
But didn’t he die? Apparently he did, but fans never got to see the death, so the theory he is still alive is a common one. Considering Arya’s current storyline, some theories also suggest that Syrio has been by Arya’s side all along and that he is, in fact, Jaqen H’ghar (Tom Wlaschiha), just using a different face.
As Time also pointed out, the actor who plays Syrio spoke about his role recently on an episode of Thronecast, which airs after each episode of Game of Thrones in the UK. When asked if Syrio was tied to the House of Black and White, he, at first, said yes and then tried to muddy the waters somewhat by saying he is tied to Braavos, not just the House of Black and White.
Now, on to the rest of the synopsis.
“Jaime weighs his options.” Jaime Lannister is still stuck at Riverrun and trying to work out how to get the castle back from Brynden “Blackfish” Tully (Clive Russell). But, as the teaser video above shows, Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie), has also shown up and matters are complicated because, thanks to her allegiance to the Sansa, and by effect, the Tullys, Brienne just may have to fight Jaime if she can’t get Blackfish to surrender. It will be interesting to see how this storyline plays out in Episode 8 of Game of Thrones.
“Cersei answers a request.” Episode 8 of Game of Thrones has Cersei muttering the line fans have been waiting for since early on in the promotion of Season 6, “I choose violence.” Considering she has no army backing her except for the Mountain, it might be a stupid thing for her to say at this stage of the game. But Cersei is nothing if not resilient.
“Tyrion’s plans bear fruit.” It seems word may have gotten around Meereen then, and the red priestesses of the Lord of Light cult have managed to sway the people of Meereen into thinking Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) is exactly what they need in regards to ruling them. Although, as Harper’s Bazaar pointed out, this is Game of Thrones, so just because something bears fruit, it doesn’t always mean that is a good thing.
