Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been facing rumors of divorce since earlier this year when Pitt began filming Allied with French actress Marion Cotillard. At the time, Jolie was said to be extremely jealous of Cotillard, not just due to Cotillard’s time with Pitt, but also because of her success in the industry.
“The resentment has been eating away at Angelina,” an insider told In Touch Weekly in March, according to a Hollywood Life report. “She’s prone to think that since she was once Brad’s co-star and seduced him away from his wife, the same will happen to her.”
When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fell in love on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston, but that didn’t stop him from continuing on with Jolie. In 2005, just one month after Aniston filed for divorce, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie went public with their relationship while on vacation in Kenya with Jolie’s oldest adopted son, Maddox, whom Pitt has since adopted as well.
“[Cotillard]’s exactly the kind of sultry European actress that Angie has always wanted to be and she’s playing exactly the kind of role Angie’s always wanted to play,” the magazine’s source explained. “Adding to the jealousy is the fact that Marion has one thing Angelina hasn’t achieved in her acting career: Oscar for Best Actress.”
“He will be the one to file,” the source continued. “He’s fed up with her controlling ways, her obstinateness when it comes to listening to him about her health issues and how she needs to slow down and now her outright jealousy when it comes to other women.”
In addition to rumors claiming there could be something going on between Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard, he has also been linked to his other Allied co-star, Lizzy Caplan, who plays the role of his character’s sister in the upcoming film.
