Lamar Odom Nixes Rehab: Family Pleas And Khloe’s Distance Can’t Save Former NBA Star

Things may be well and truly over for Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian. Despite repeated attempts by Khloe and Odom’s family to get the former NBA star to go to rehab, Lamar Odom has said he isn’t going anywhere.

Lamar Odom has had a very public struggle with addiction in recent years. The 36-year-old former NBA player’s apparent downward spiral took a scary turn in October 2015. During a vacation at the Love Ranch, a Nevada brothel, Odom was found unconscious and rushed to the emergency room. Officials later revealed that Odom suffered several strokes due to heavy cocaine ingestion. For fans of Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom, there was a bittersweet side to Odom’s near-death experience. Khloe Kardashian withdrew her divorce petition and flew to Nevada to help Lamar Odom through his recovery.

For a while, things seemed to be going well for the estranged couple. Odom began making appearances at Kardashian-Jenner family functions looking close to his former self. Lamar Odom’s new lease on life prompted rumors that he and Khloe Kardashian might take another shot at their marriage. Unfortunately for fans, that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

According to TMZ, Lamar Odom’s family has been trying feverishly in the past few days to get the former NBA star into rehab. Odom’s aunt, cousin, and several other unidentified New York family members flew to Los Angeles for a heart to heart. The recent intervention is just one of many staged for Odom over the years. The most recent intervention was different because it reportedly focused on the love and faith Odom’s family has in him. Reportedly, Odom’s family doesn’t care where he gets it, but they want him to get help. Odom, however, won’t consent to go into rehab.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, reports emerged in May 2016 that Lamar Odom had started drinking again. Khloe Kardashian apparently took this as a bad sign, because shortly afterward, she filed for divorce again. An episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians that aired around the time of Lamar Odom’s drinking revelation might have given fans false hope. In the episode, Khloe and Lamar discuss the idea of reconciling. Both agreed that they would want to divorce before they even considered getting back together. Now, it looks more like the new set of divorce papers are Khloe Kardashian washing her hands of Lamar Odom once and for all.

Things have only gotten worse for Lamar Odom since he began drinking again. According to Hollywood Life, friends found crack pipes, roaches, and other drug paraphernalia in Odom’s Calabasas home. The discovery confirmed fears that Odom’s sobriety has fallen by the wayside once again and prompted the most recent round of interventions. It also seems that the discovery prompted Khloe Kardashian to end her relationship with Lamar Odom.

An unidentified source says that Khloe Kardashian doesn’t want to watch Lamar Odom destroy himself anymore.

“Khloe’s shaking her head in disbelief. She can’t believe what she’s reading online. She literally believes Lamar is self destructive and for her own sake, she can’t be bothered with his problems. She’s done! Khloe’s not going to attempt to help or rescue Lamar anymore. It’s clear to her that he doesn’t want anyone’s help and it’s also clear Lamar’s going to do whatever the hell Lamar wants to do.”

In October 2015, Lamar Odom received something many addictions don’t get: a second chance. Like make addicts, Lamar Odom seems both unwilling and unable to capitalize on his new lease on life. Which leaves his family and fans in the unenviable position of praying for the best, but preparing for the worst.
