Bernie Sanders supporters and other liberal democrats gathered over 200,000 signatures on a petition to ask Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz to resign on the basis of bias toward Hillary Clinton. Fox News reports that petitions appeared on Credo, Moving On, and Roots Action, among others.
Bernie Sanders’ campaign manager Jeff Weaver told MSNBC’s Andrea Michell on Thursday that he had a serious problem with allowing Debbie Wasserman Schultz to remain as chairwoman, reported the Washington Post .
“If the party’s going to come together, the conduct that we saw from the chairwoman’s office over the course of this campaign really is a sticking point for a lot of people out there who support Senator Sanders. The millions of people who support Senator Sanders, they’ve seen the finger on the scale and they’re not happy about it…”
Bernie Sanders supporters are indeed disappointed in the election process so far and have been made aware of significant bias, alleged election fraud, and some strange computer glitches that purged hundreds of thousands of them from Democrat Party voter rolls in several states, according to Heavy . It is hardly the warm welcome Democratic Party members expect when voting or going to a convention. It leaves the impression that economically liberal Democrats, young people, and Bernie supporters are unwelcome in the party.
Weaver continued to explain his position.
“…I think unity in the party would be much easier to achieve if we had a consensus, a chair who was committed to playing the traditional role that chairs of parties play, which is — even when there’s sharp elbows in a primary contest, the chair of the party is looking out for the broader interest of the party to make sure that the party can come together in the end, and we’ve seen repeatedly from chairwoman Wasserman Schultz that that’s really not the role that she’s playing.”
The Bernie Sanders Campaign has also formally requested a full investigation into election tampering charges in Kentucky. If evidence is found of election fraud, other investigations will follow, according to the Horn News .
Debbie Wasserman Schultz isn’t the only one accused of having her fingers on the scales, according to the Horn News . NPR called out Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes for Kentucky, who may have had fingers on the scale as well.
“Politically, [the request] gives Sanders the opportunity to continue to call into question the results; allow some of his supporters to continue to allege that Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, who is close to the Clintons, put her finger on the scale; raise money — and do all of it at no cost,”
The Bernie Sanders Campaign has allegedly experienced a lot of bias favoring Hillary Clinton. Just how many Clinton supporters within the Democratic Party may or may not have had their fingers all over the scale is unclear, but even one such incident should be too many.
The Democratic Party and Debbie Wasserman Schultz have not taken action on any of the fraud and bias claims that have been made during the primaries. Even when hundreds of thousands of Democrats in several states were purged from the rolls of Democratic voters, the complaints were not acknowledged and party leaders upheld so-called computer glitches rather than attempt to correct the issue. The Nevada Democratic Convention leadership disqualified 64 of Bernie’s delegates based on allegedly fraudulent information or accidental glitches that showed the 64 were not registered as Democrat voters, according to the Washington Post .
The Nevada Democratic Convention leadership disqualified the Sanders delegates based on allegedly fraudulent information or accidental glitches that showed the 64 were not registered as Democrat voters. Debbie Wasserman Schultz has not properly addressed the situation, nor has anyone within the party.
Bernie Sanders supporters were outraged at their treatment at the Nevada convention. Sixty-four Sanders supporters were removed from the process. Their numbers were not replaced, and this altered the specified balance of delegates. Later, Bernie supporters proved on video that their verbal votes were ignored as well.

The Nevada Democratic Convention leadership disqualified the 64 Sanders delegates based on allegedly fraudulent information or accidental glitches that showed the 64 were not registered as Democrat voters. The so-called glitch issue that disenfranchised so many young Sanders primary voters was well known at the time of the convention. Rather than try to right the wrong, party leaders repeated the error.
Bernie Sanders supporters claim to have evidence of voter fraud in many states and are taking legal action in a few. The Democratic Party has been less than cooperative in righting these wrongs, so naturally, Bernie and his supporters are concerned that alleged bias and fraud will continue at the convention.
Would Bernie Sanders be treated fairly at the Democratic National Convention with Debbie Wasserman Schultz as chairwoman of the DNC?
