‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 2: Nick Meets Up With A Familiar Face In Episode 8
The mid-season finale of Season 2 of AMC’s Fear The Walking Dead saw the main group splinter into three smaller groups. Of these groups, Nick Clark decided to go it alone. What does this mean for him in the second half of Season 2?

Episode 7 (entitled “Shiva”) of Fear The Walking Dead saw Nick (Frank Dillane) leave the main group and strike out on his own among the walking dead. Over the first half of Season 2 it seemed as if Nick had learned a valuable lesson in the zombie apocalypse: the infected can not detect the human scent when it is covered with the blood of the infected. While this is a great way to escape a horde if you are in a pinch, for Nick, it soon became a way of life for him. As Fear’s showrunner, Dave Erickson, explained to TVLine, Nick finds an outlet with the dead, he replaces his addiction to drugs for his addiction to the dead.
But every addict also needs an enabler to help him fuel his addictive personality. When Nick found Celia (Marlene Forte), she was the one who allowed him to fully embrace his new addiction. However, when it appears Celia is dead in the mid-season finale of Fear The Walking Dead, Nick branches off on his own, taking his infected outfit and walking freely among the living dead.
But how will this work out for Nick in the second half of Fear The Walking Dead? After all, the teaser video below for Episode 8 shows Nick being shot and left on a stretch of road that also appears to have a horde of the undead. Whether Nick is shot before or after this horde passes, however, is unknown. If he is shot before the horde approaches, things could go very sour, very quickly and Nick may finally get to experience being one of the infected on a whole new level.
Before this can happen, however, it seems Nick leaving by himself was not as crazy an idea as first suspected by Fear The Walking Dead fans. According to Dave Erickson, Nick has “something in his hand” that will make more sense moving forward into Episode 8. Whether this is literally something in his hand or figuratively speaking, though, is still unclear. But, something else Erickson said along with his original statement could help fans out.
“We connect something in the premiere of the back half. We find out he had something in his hand that we didn’t know about that makes him a little bit less insane than to just walk off. He also reconnects with someone when we come back in Episode 8.”
Perhaps the person Nick meets is the thing he figuratively has in his hand. Could Nick have found Celia and freed her from the cage Madison (Kim Dickens) trapped her in along with Celia’s beloved infected? If Nick and Celia are together, perhaps she will help him out after he has been shot? Only time will tell!
