After his initial debut last year, Kevin Owens looked to be going places with a clean victory and continued good feud against John Cena. From there, it appeared as if he was sinking into mid-card limbo and on his way to being just another face in the crowd. Now, things have changed and WWE is said to have some big plans in the works for Kevin Owens, and it could come with him going after the top prize in the company.
Owens was involved in the big Intercontinental Title match at WrestleMania 32 and has since been in a great feud with Sami Zayn. Now, Owens is in a Fatal 4-Way match for the Intercontinental title which will pit him against Zayn, Cesaro, and The Miz.
Sure, he is in one of the top mid-card feuds in all of WWE, but it appears as if there is much more coming soon for Kevin Owens.
According to Daily Wrestling News, Kevin Owens has some very big thingscoming for him and WWE has huge plans for him in the future. His work on the mic and in the ring have impressed a lot of people, and he’s been turning a lot of heads with how quickly he’s adjusted to being on the main roster.
One of the best things that Owens has done is turn Vince McMahon into one of his biggest supporters.
At one time, Vinnie Mac was not a fan of Owens’ look, and he actually wanted it changed. McMahon has always been one that likes the taller superstar with a good physique and he used to be a fan of those with long hair.
Kevin Owens is shorter, has very short hair, a beard, and doesn’t exactly have the best physique. McMahon is one that doesn’t change his mind often and when he has a view of someone, that’s usually what sticks, so, to change his opinion is huge.
It’s obvious that the WWE writing team has a lot of faith in Owens, and that was proven by a statposted by someone on Reddit. When Extreme Rulesrolls around, Owens will become only the second current member of the WWE roster to compete on the main card of every pay-per-view in their first year on the main roster.
The only other person on the current roster that has done that? The Undertaker.
Once his current feud with Sami Zayn is over, it’s said that Owens will be moving into a main event push that is very deserved. It’s not yet known if he will be going right after the WWE World Heavyweight Title or not, but that is on the horizon.
Right now, rumored plans for SummerSlam include John Cena vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE Title and Brock Lesnar vs. Bray Wyatt. A number of other big-name superstars should be back from injuries by then, and Owens could be thrown into a feud with one of them.
Kevin Owens is a future WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and it’s only a matter of time until it happens. Being able to win over Vince McMahon may have shortened the amount of time until he has the prized belt around his waist.
It was already known that Kevin Owens was one of the true talents in WWE and that he would go to high places. Some hard times must come everyone’s way, though, and he has persevered and made it through them all. Now, Owens is on his way to loftier heights in the biggest wrestling promotion in the world, and the big plans for him could see him as a world champion before the year is over.
