Why Chloe Lukasiak Stopped Competing, Maddie Ziegler Ignores ‘Dance Moms’ Alum [Video]
Dance Moms alum Chloe Lukasiak has recently uploaded a Q&A video on her YouTube channel, in which she answered some of the most asked questions from her fans.
Since leaving ALDC and joining Studio 19 Dance Complex, Chloe Lukasiak has participated in only a few dance competitions. While she definitely proved to everyone that she did not need Abby Lee Miller, as she and her new team won at the last VIP Dance Nationals, some fans cannot help but wonder why she has not been really visible as of late. Lukasiak, however, assured her supporters that her love for dancing has not waned one bit. She explained that with her commitments piling up, she decided to take a break from dance competitions.
“I’m still dancing but I decided this year to stop competing because I was traveling a lot. I’m going back and forth between LA and Pittsburgh so I just decided it probably wasn’t fair to my team,” she said.
Chloe Lukasiak also shared that while she is still with Studio 19 Dance Complex, she has also been taking a few classes in Los Angeles. The former Dance Moms star said that she is continuously trying to improve her craft, adding that dancing will always be her first love.
“I’m still getting a lot of technique classes and I still love dance. I’m not going to give up on that, I’m just not competing anymore.”
For those who wanted to see more of Chloe, the 14-year-old promised her YouTube subscribers that she will be uploading more dance videos on her channel. She explained that the only reason why she did not post videos on a regular basis is that she had a hard time finding a choreographer that really connects with her.
“We’ve had difficulties with that in the past but now we have someone so I’m going to try to post more…. I can’t promise anything but maybe, Clara and I will try to do a duet for my YouTube channel.”
In an interview with OK! magazine back in August, Chloe Lukasiak admitted that the atmosphere in her new studio, Studio 19 Dance Complex, is far from ALDC
“Everyone is always smiling and it’s just really fun there. Even when they give corrections and critiques, they’re all really nice about it so I have the best time,” she said.
While Chloe seemed like she is having a blast with her new studio, some cannot help but wonder if she is still in contact with some of the Dance Moms stars, particularly best friend Maddie Ziegler. In an episode of the Lifetime reality series, The Book of Tomorrow actress admitted that she has not spoken to Chloe in a long time.
“We haven’t really talked to each other and things have changed between us… It’s really sad because I obviously miss her.”
At the 2015 Teen Choice Awards, Chloe Lukasiak and Maddie Ziegler competed in the Choice Dancer category, with the former eventually winning the surfboard. The Dance Moms alum said that going up against Maddie was not a big deal, explaining that they have been pitted against each other since day one.
“I’ve always competed against her my whole life. She was probably my biggest rival in the competition world.”
A clip from the recent 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards showed that Maddie Ziegler saw Chloe Lukasiak and “intentionally” went the other way. Some were disappointed that the two cannot act civil towards one another. Some, however, commented that Dance Moms fans were making such a big deal of the video when there was really no issue between the two dancers.
