‘Real Housewives’ Star Michael Darby Explains The Controversial Butt Grab

Michael Darby is the husband of Real Housewives of Potomac star Ashley Darby. The husbands are often expected to stay in the background and not cause too many troubles, but it sounds like Michael isn’t following the rules. Despite the season only being 10 episodes, Michael has already gotten himself into trouble twice, the last thing being during Sunday’s episode. While celebrating Charrisse Jordan Jackson’s birthday party, Michael grabbed Andrew’s butt during a dance. And this butt grab quickly turned into gossip.

According to a new Bravo report, Michael Darby is now breaking his silence about the incident and he reveals that he and Andrew actually have a great friendship. When the grab happened, Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon quickly started talking about race and homosexual behavior. And it sounds like they enjoyed talking about Michael possibly being gay.

“Andrew and I have become friends since the start of the show. We have mutual interests and have found that we have friends in common. We had enjoyed a fun night at Charrise Jordan Jackson’s birthday party and were letting loose on the dance floor when I playfully touched Andrew’s butt. He responded as expected with a laugh and we continued to dance with our lovely ladies,” Michael Darby explains of the butt grab, revealing that it truly wasn’t a big deal. It was just something funny that happened between two friends.

Darby didn’t realize that his butt grab was being discussed so heavily until his wife took him aside. The ladies had gossiped to Ashley Darby about her husband’s behavior, revealing that it was possibly “white man” behavior. But Ashley didn’t listen to that argument, as she pointed out that Robyn’s man had been in the NBA and it was common for them to slap one another’s behind. And Michael Darby points out that he was surprised himself when Ashley’s co-stars started focusing so much on his behavior.

“I was surprised when two people (Gizelle and Robyn) who had nothing to do with the incident decided to become involved and try to ruin my wife’s fun night by tattling (in Australia we call it dobbing) on me. I’m sure they were disappointed when Ashley told them she didn’t think it was an “inappropriate white person’s thing” and that I was just having fun,” Darby explains.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Michael Darby has caused some discussion on the show. When Ashley invited all of the ladies to her beach house in Bethany Beach, she was convinced that they would have a great time. She was surprised when Michael showed up to surprise her, but she welcomed him with open airs. And this didn’t sit well with the ladies.

“I considered these women friends and was initially happy to have them in our home. I went to the beach early to surprise my gorgeous wife who I hadn’t seen for three days. This was the longest period of time we had been away from each other since we were married and I knew she was working hard to host these women. I wanted to bring the Darby team together and help her host the festivities of the last night of their trip. I was shocked by the extreme and illogical reactions of Karen Huger and Gizelle but I wasn’t going to let it ruin our fun,” Michael Darby explains of his decision to surprise his wife at the beach house.

Even though Charrisse just wanted a fun party for her birthday without the drama, it sounds like Gizelle and Robyn decided to make something out of nothing.
