Karrueche Tran Opens Up About Redefining Her Image After Chris Brown Split: ‘I’m A Business Woman’

Karrueche Tran and Chris Brown may have called an end to their longtime relationship over one year ago, but it appears that Karrueche is still struggling to distance herself from the “Loyal” singer, given the nature of the drama surrounding her and Brown’s tumultuous split in 2015.

Earlier this month, Karrueche and Chris Brown made headlines after Chris took to Instagram to accuse Karrueche’s manager, Jacob York, of purposely trying to encourage Tran to discuss her past with Brown in an attempt to “capitalize” on the attention surrounding the duo’s breakup.

In a lengthy comment shared to one of York’s Instagram posts, as captured by a fan on Twitter, Chris Brown lashed out at Karrueche’s manager before calling his former girlfriend “barely famous” and “emotionally distraught.”

“It’s only maturity when u talk to a man face to face and look him in his eyes and explain your issues. He too afraid of that. He’d rather capitalize off every vulnerable barely famous emotionally distraught female with a pretty FACE,” Chris Brown explained before adding, “YOU FEAR ME N****!”

In response to Brown’s heated exchange with York, Karrueche Tran then took to Instagram to blast Chris for continuing to stir up drama in regard to their past relationship, telling the “Back to Sleep” singer, “You’re calling me a b**** yet you’re screaming my name in a song about getting back together?”

“You have a beautiful daughter and so much to live for,” Karrueche continued in response to Chris Brown. “LIVE YOUR LIFE and be positive. I am so over the drama! I just wanna work and be happy and take care of my family. Every f*****g day it’s something new!!!”

While Karrueche has been outspoken about her desire to move on from her past romance with Chris Brown, the actress recently explained to Hip Hop Hollywood that she’s committed to redefining her image so that she can present herself “in the best way possible.”

“It’s very important at this point because I’m a business woman and I need to present myself in the best way possible,” Karrueche explained when asked about the importance of redefining her image to reflect her career goals. “Unfortunately, people know me for certain other things that they’ve seen in the media, or whatever it is, so now it’s very important for me to show my personality and show the woman I am and the woman I’m growing to be.”

Following her abrupt split from Chris Brown in 2015, Karrueche opened up the negative implications of the drama surrounding her and Brown’s breakup in an interview with BBC Newsbeat while telling the site that people are often reluctant to work with her given her association with the “Zero” singer.

“A lot of people think I am a weak individual because of past situations and when it comes to business sometimes people don’t want to be involved with somebody like that,” Tran explained of her relationship with Chris Brown. “I used to date him, and now as I am growing into myself and maturing and getting my career together, I am starting to have my own name without having to be associated.”

Recently, Karrueche’s manager spoke out in defense of the model in a lengthy post shared to his Facebook page, telling followers that it’s “disrespectful” for people to say that Tran owes her career to ex Chris Brown.

“For some time, I’ve heard people in the industry, consistently state that Karrueche owes Chris Brown for her career. To say she owes him is disrespectful to not only her but to her professional team and women in general,” Jacob York explained in his Facebook post.

“Before dating a celebrity, she had a career as a stylist, personal shopper, and model, all done in a persistent effort to brand herself and in school for graphic design. While in this relationship, countless opportunities were passed up to focus on handling his non-profit,” York continued, adding, “So, please stop giving credit to anyone that doesn’t deserve it. Yes, you may know who she is because she dated a celebrity, but that doesn’t define her work ethic and drive to succeed.”
