Borderlands 2 Gore Won’t Be Censored
If seeing copious amounts of virtual blood splattered all over the place in video games isn’t exactly your cup of tea, Gearbox Software has announced that Borderlands 2, the sequel to 2009’s loot-hoarding first-person shooter, will ship with an option to toggle gore off.
If you happen to live in Germany or Australia, there’s even more good news. In its announcement, Gearbox also said that Borderlands 2 will be released worldwide completely uncensored–blood, guts, and all.
“Some fans will remember that the first Borderlands game was a bit toned down in certain territories compared to the rest of the world,” Gearbox wrote on their official website. “No longer! Do you live in Germany? Australia? Bandits will be just as likely to explode into bloody chunks of awesomeness as they will be in Canada or England (which is to say: very likely.)”
In related news, the topic of Borderlands 2 came up during Take-Two’s first quarter financial call earlier today, and it looks like the sequel is already hit despite the fact that the game isn’t even out yet.
“Consumer anticipation is phenomenal,” said Karl Slatoff, chief operating officer of Take-Two. “Pre-orders are currently the third highest of any title in Take-Two’s history, behind only Grand Theft Auto 4 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.”
Will you be picking up Borderlands 2 when it releases on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this September?
