Nina Dobrev And Ian Somerhalder Together Again? Rumors About ‘The Originals’ Circulate
Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder may be back together very soon! After deciding to end her run on The Vampire Diaries, rumor has it that Nina Dobrev is considering reprising her role as Elena Gilbert. However, Nina will not be going back to TVD. Instead, she may bring her character back to life on The Originals — a spinoff of TVD.
According to MNR Daily, the actress is seriously considering a return to television — and so much more. Bringing Elena Gilbert back to television would be huge for fans of The Vampire Diaries, but bringing Nina on a show with Ian? That is an even bigger deal.
“Nina Dobrev might be wearing her vampire teeth again. The actress along with Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder are coming to The Originals, recent rumors say.”
As most people know, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder used to date. Although they have broken up and clearly gone their separate ways (Ian is now married to actress Nikki Reed of Twilight fame), fans would absolutely love to see these two back on screen together. While things may have not worked out for them in real life, there is something special about them acting together that fans hold very dear.

According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, The Vampire Diaries may soon be canceled. The show was just renewed for another season, but ratings have dropped significantly since Nina Dobrev left the show in season 6. Now, it sounds like much of the cast could be heading to a different show, but keeping their respective parts, which may or may not make sense.
“There’s talk that Vampire Diaries will be cancelled and a few of the actors moved over to The Originals. It makes sense for Caroline (Candice Accola) to transition to The Originals since Klaus (Joseph Morgan) has a thing for her. And Bonnie (Kat Graham) migrating is also logical, as she’s a witch and The Originals is rife with witch characters and stories. But Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) wouldn’t fit since The Originals already has tons of male characters with all the Mikaelson men,” Celebrity Dirty Laundry reports.

However, Nina Dobrev seemed to be ready to leave Elena Gilbert behind. For whatever reason, she said that she felt it was time to move on. There is a chance, however, that Nina would want to go back to her vampire days.
“I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime,” Nina said on Instagram in 2015 when announcing her departure from The Vampire Diaries.
Would Nina Dobrev even want to bring Elena Gilbert back to television? That remains up for question. The actress has not made mention of any of this chatter on social media or in any recent interviews that she has done. According to IMDb, Dobrev is currently filming a movie and has another movie on tap for later this year (with a 2017 release). Judging by that schedule alone, it does seem like Nina is too busy to film a television show on-location for several months at a time. But who knows? Perhaps she would even consider doing some kind of cameo role or a part-time thing.
