Rory Feek’s wife, Joey Feek, is nearing the end of her battle with terminal cancer, and to pay tribute to her, Rory created a very emotional video which he shared on his blog This Life I Live .
The video, which can be seen below, showcases Rory’s favorite pictures of Joey as the song “In The Time That You Gave Me” plays in the background. Rory pulled photos from way back when their romance was new, all the way to now as he lay next to her in her hospice bed, praying that she won’t leave him.
“I went through some pictures on my computer last night and let them take me back,” Rory wrote in a post titled ‘one last kiss.’ “Back to when we met… oh, how young and beautiful she looked. And I let them carry me through the years, to where we are now. Lying here beside me, she is still so beautiful to me. We recorded a song a few years ago by Shawn Camp and Dennis Morgan for the same album that we recorded ‘When I’m Gone’ on, but it didn’t make the record. I think maybe it was on some special bonus version somewhere, but for the most part nobody’s ever heard it. I came across it the other day and put some of Joey’s photos with it… I could barely listen or watch at first. But then, as I listened and watched more… I smiled more and I cried less. It’s called ‘In The Time That You Gave Me.’”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Joey Feek was diagnosed with stage four cervical cancer in May of 2014, three months after giving birth to her daughter, Indiana. She later underwent a radical hysterectomy and several rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, which was supposed to rid her body of the cancerous cells. Unfortunately, in October, 2015, as Joey was preparing to undergo her last round of chemo, her doctors discovered that her cancer had returned and was spreading. Because the cancer was spreading so quickly and aggressively, Joey’s doctors told her there was nothing more that they could do, leaving her to make the hardest decision of her life. Unwilling to spend the remainder of her life in a cold hospital, Joey opted to stop treatment and return to her home in hospice care so she could spend the remainder of her days with her family.
Since then, Joey’s health has been like a roller coaster — one day she is doing better than ever, and the next she takes a turn for the worse. Sadly, Rory said he thinks the roller coaster ride is finally coming to an end. In the same blog post, Rory revealed that Joey had told her family her final goodbyes and given her daughter one last kiss before drifting off into a deep sleep.
“My wife has been asleep for days now and her body is shutting down quickly,” Rory wrote. “The hospice nurse came again this morning and said Joey will most-likely only be with us for a few more days… at the most.”
“A few more days… In the 40 short years that Joey has lived, my bride has accomplished many great things… she’s lived a very full life. But even more than that, she has loved those around her greatly and been loved greatly in return. I can honestly say that Joey’s isn’t just a life well-lived, it’s a life well-loved.”
