‘Teen Wolf’ Season 6 Spoilers: Dylan O’Brien Returns, Tyler Posey Takeover As Showrunner?
While the Season 5 finale of Teen Wolf, Episode 20 titled “Apotheosis,” is set to air next Tuesday, March 8, the cast and crew of the MTV series have already started filming for Season 6. Dylan O’Brien and Tyler Posey will be reprising their roles as Stiles Stilinski and Scott McCall, respectively, in the sixth season.
According to Teen Wolf News, the filming for Season 6 started last Monday, February 22. The outlet held that it will once again take place in California, which caused many fans to wonder if it will cause problems for Dylan as he will start shooting The Maze Runner: Death Cure in Canada beginning March 14.
Teen Wolf executive producer Jeff Davis assured fans that they will get to see more of Stiles come Season 6. He explained that they have taken his busy schedule into consideration is determined to make everything work.
“Obviously we have to work around his movie schedule but you’ll see the story we’ve come up with. I think it’s going to make everyone pretty happy.”
Speaking to Movie Pilot, the Teen Wolf showrunner, however, explained that they did not want to hold Dylan O’Brien back. It has long been rumored that the actor will be leaving the MTV series to focus on his movie career. If they end up going past Season 7, Davis said that he may have to let Stiles go.
“Maybe he stays, maybe not. Even as a recurring character would be cool,” he said.
Davis further explained that while starring in Teen Wolf still helps Dylan O’Brien’s career, he admitted that the actor could develop his craft further by accepting other projects.
“He’s such a movie star and he’s going to do big things. I can’t hold him back. Teen Wolf still helps him. But if I do a Comedy/drama show he wouldn’t learn anything new.”
According to Buzzfeed, in the event that Dylan O’Brien, or even Tyler Posey (Scott McCall), decided to leave Teen Wolf, Jeff Davis has already set up the groundwork for Liam (Dylan Sprayberry) and Mason’s (Khylin Rhambo) storyline, which interestingly reminded viewers of the earlier relationship between Scott and Stiles.
In spite of the numerous speculations, O’Brien insisted that he will never leave Teen Wolf. He shared that he is more than happy to do more than six seasons.
“I’m just very aware of what this show means to me and I would never, by my own hand, say it’s time for me to move on. I’m going to miss this show when it’s over.”
Meanwhile, Teen Wolf News recently reported that Jeff Davis will no longer be as hands on as he used to be come Teen Wolf Season 6. He explained that being in charge of the MTV series for more than six years has taken a toll on his health. While he will remain as the Teen Wolf showrunner, Davis shared that he will let others take care of the script and day-to-day production.
“Mostly other producers picking up the weight so that I can get a much needed break,” he said.
Speaking to Us Weekly, Tyler Posey admitted that he would be willing to pen some episodes of Teen Wolf Season 6, should Jeff decide to take a step back. Being on the show since day 1, the actor believes that he can take over the show when needed.
“I really love this show and this environment and this world and MTV, and I think it would be great. I think I would do a good job too — I really care about this show.”
