WWE Rumors: Goldberg To Return For Match At ‘WrestleMania 32’ — Fans Will Riot Over His Opponent
There is just one month left until WrestleMania 32, and the top matches are set and in place. Rumors are still flying around, though, and no one knows just what will end up happening. With those top three matches confirmed, and a number of big names out due to injury, it’s hard to think that someone like Goldberg could return and be added to the card. Well, rumors say he could be, and fans would not be thrilled with the match at all.
Talk has picked up a lot over the last month about the possible return of Bill Goldberg to WWE, and it got even louder when Shane McMahon returned. It was believed that Shane-O Mac would “hire” Goldberg as a mercenary to take on The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32 and fight for him inside Hell in a Cell at WrestleMania 32.
Now, it’s been said that McMahon will be the one in the match and the cell to take on The Undertaker. Ok, so even if Goldberg did return to WWE in time for the big event in early April, who would he face?
WrestleZone brought up a very good possibility during their recap of last night’s Monday Night RAW, and it may cause a lot of fans to become rather angry.
“Anyone else think they are shining up Ryback for a match with Goldberg at WrestleMania?”
No, it’s not appealing to really any wrestling fan. No, it’s not something that any longtime wrestling fan would want. No, it’s not ideal for WrestleMania 32 at all, but the hints are there.
Over the past couple of weeks, WWE has sort of reinvented Ryback in some rather strange and interesting ways. His frame of mind is all about dominating and being a brute force. He’s taken on a bit of a heelish persona, and that of a longer.
Oh, and everyone has probably noticed his change in-ring attire from the singlet to the new, simplified look.
Anyone that hasn’t watched wrestling long enough to have seen WCW may not recognize the ring attire, but it is very similar to someone else. It’s also the look that Goldberg had upon first entering WWE before he switched over to the shorts-trunks that he wore in the later part of his time. Some may say it isn’t the case, but longtime wrestling fans know it far too blatant and obvious not to notice. Maybe WWE isn’t setting up for a match between Ryback and Goldberg, and maybe they just want Ryback to be Goldberg Part II.
Dave Meltzer of F4W Online recently said that Bill Goldberg had not yet been contacted by WWE for an appearance at WrestleMania 32. That was a few days ago though, and a lot can change in the world of professional wrestling in a short amount of time.
There have been talks between Goldberg and Triple H over the course of the last year, but nothing ever came of them.
If WWE really is setting up for a Goldberg return and then feud with Ryback, the fans may completely and totally riot. If that match were to happen at WrestleMania 32, it would be met with the same reception that Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar received at WrestleMania XX years ago.
Not only was that match bad, but it got one of the worst possible reactions from the crowd. The fans could have cared less about who was in the match, who won, or anything that happened in it. The only pop came when “Stone Cold” Steve Austin gave Stunners to both wrestlers after the match.Ryback vs. Goldberg would likely be met with a response that could be even worse.
Goldberg returning to WWE is far from concerned, and it’s not known if it will happen in time for WrestleMania 32, or ever. Ryback’s transformation may be nothing more than a new style, new look, and new attitude, but it sure is rather odd how similar he looks to someone from the past.
