‘Outlander’ Stars Sam Heughan And Caitriona Balfe Get Frisky For ‘Entertainment Weekly,’ Spill Season 2 Secrets
Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe stripped down in true Outlander fashion for Entertainment Weekly’s newest front cover. While fans reacted positively to the hot and frisky photo shoot, the actors are working hard to finish up production for the upcoming season. Based on the latest cover image, fans are in for quite the run as Outlander returns for year two.
The expectations for the second season of Outlander couldn’t be any higher as Claire and Jamie head to Paris, France. With the goal of preventing a rebellion high on their list of priorities, Balfe told ET Online that this season will feature lavish sets and costumes that match the French setting.
“I think this season is just a visual feast,” Balfe stated. “Especially when we’re in France. The costumes are incredible, whereas last year it was kind of earthy and muted. This year is so incredibly stunning and vivid. It feels like a very different world but we still have Jamie and Claire at the center of it, so there’s a lot of familiarity as well.”
Considering their latest sexy shoot, fans are in for another round of steamy romance from the time-traveling couple. Unfortunately, their on-screen chemistry has yet to lead to anything materializing in the real world. For Heughan, having to remind fans he and Balfe are not dating in real life can be difficult at times.“I think there was a little bit of upset by some fans,” Heughan told the magazine. “It slightly saddens me but I guess it means that we’ve done a good job.”
Even though their romance might not be real, their racy cover shoot had fans reacting all over the social media sphere. According to ScotlandNow, most fans could hardly contain their enthusiasm after seeing Jamie and Claire in action once again.
“I think that’s the hottest thing I’ve ever seen!!!” one Twitter fan wrote.
“Yowza. Shazaam. Hot damn. This is too hot to look at,” wrote another on Twitter. “Burning my retinas. Can’t look away.”
The second season of Outlander is an adaptation of second book in Diana Gabaldon’s novel, titled Dragonfly in Amber. While the first season focused on the couple’s actions in Scotland, the pair will travel to Paris this time around and attempt to put an early end tot he Jacobite rebellion. In the process, fans can expect plenty of drama and dangerous situations as Jamie and Claire mix in with the elites of 18th century France.
Along with the new wardrobes and setting, a number of new faces will be introduced in the coming season. This includes Jamie and Claire’s daughter, Brianna. Sophie Skelton is set to play the role of Brianna, who is also expected to play a significant role in Claire’s development this season.“For Claire, the biggest thing for her is she becomes a mother and dealing with that impending event is just great,” Balfe explained. “And as for her relationship with Jamie, the focus is on how they rebuild after all the pain that they went through at the end of last season.”
For Jamie, part of his past struggles include his order with Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies), whose fate is still up in the air. Exactly how Claire and Jamie deal with these past issues will be a major plot point this season and is sure to test the couple’s relationship in new ways.
Fortunately, Heughan and Balfe’s characters share a unique bond that should keep their relationship strong, no matter what happens in Season 2.
The highly anticipated second season of Outlander is set to return to television on April 9 on Starz.
