Iggy Azalea Seeks To Set A New Trend With Coral Hair
Iggy Azalea has a couple of things on her mind as she gets ready for the release of her sophomore album. First, her new coral-colored hair, and second, her ability to set trends.
When Azalea took stopped for a photo shoot at a Sports Illustrated party in California on Friday night, she was almost unrecognizable. The typically strict blonde Australian rapper decided to go out on a limb with pink hair, and she totally rocked it.
For the event, she sleeked back the front and sides of her hair and put her long tresses in a messy knot on top of her head. The color paired extremely well with her emerald green tracksuit. It also perfectly complemented her alabaster complexion and sparse makeup. To complete her outfit, she wore a set of simple black heels and her 10.43 carat yellow diamond engagement ring. She’s rarely seen without the incredible gem given to her by fiancé Nick Young last year. Never one to blend in, Iggy makes a striking statement with the giant diamond wherever she goes.
Some might call it a fashion risk, but it’s something she definitely pulls off, and she may have others follow the trend, if she has her way.
With her new pink hair, Iggy Azalea is also looking to be a little more of an icon in both the fashion and beauty industry and her music. She recently told NBC New York after attending the Sports Illustrated party that she’s now worrying much less about her performances as she becomes more self-assured with her own talents and less concerned with sounding like the cool new rapper on the block. She said the following on her interview.
“I think I’m more confident, and I think I have more belief in what I think is cool rather than worrying about what other people are going to like.”
She went on to say that she believes her actions and choices can set an example for others to follow. “I think I have more belief in myself in being a trendsetter, which all artists should,” she continued. “So I hope to maybe move the dial a little bit more than I did last time.”
The Sports Illustrated party Azalea was attending was in honor of the Super Bowl in Santa Clara. The singer, unfortunately, says she won’t be able to attend the Super Bowl live on Sunday. “I have to go home and work, but I will be watching them on television,” she said, referring to the half time show performers Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, and Coldplay. “I’m excited to watch them at home.”She also took a moment to comment on her upcoming album, which she said will be coming out sometime before June. When asked if she would include as many featured artists as she did in her first album, which was nominated for a Grammy, she replied, “Less features than last time. I went a bit feature crazy.” That may be true in some respects. The album included songs with Jennifer Hudson, T.I., Mavado, and Rita Ora and Charli XCX. There were more featured songs on her album than solo.
She ended her interview by going back to the concept of being a trendsetter that can stand confident in front of a crowd without anyone else. “I’m hoping people will see my growth, being able to hold my own on a song without needing somebody else’s companionship,” she added. “But I still will do some features because I love that, too.”
With her new pink hair, plans for an upcoming wedding to Nick Young, and a brand new album, Iggy Azalea has a lot on her plate, but she seem to be keeping up with everything just fine.
