Tyra Banks Baby News: Instagram Photo Shows Erik Asla And Tyra’s ‘Miracle Baby Boy’ Hat

Well, Tyra Banks truly knows how to keep a secret. On Instagram, Tyra broke the news about a new baby boy in her life. With her photographer boyfriend, Erik Asla, Tyra celebrated the birth of the baby boy, named York Banks Asla. While a photo of the newborn baby wasn’t displayed on Tyra’s Instagram account, Banks wrote a description celebrating the arrival of the baby boy and uploaded a photo to Instagram of the baby’s hat.

“The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here. He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world.”

Tyra’s Instagram followers offered all sorts of congratulations, best wishes, and confused questions from those who didn’t read the part about Banks and Asla using a surrogate to birth their baby. Banks has had to deal with reactions from her curious fans before — ones who would ask questions about when Tyra would have children. It was a question that caused consternation with Banks, because she admitted to having fertility struggles, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Tyra was driven to tears on the Fab Life talk show when Banks admitted how hard it was to field questions about why she hadn’t had a baby yet. As reported by E, it was after Chrissy Teigen admitted to have troubles on the road to getting pregnant, Tyra also admitted that getting pregnant and having a baby wasn’t the cakewalk Tyra assumed it would be when she was younger.

“I want to co-sign what Chrissy is saying and say ‘You have no idea what people are going through. Why am I crying? You just have no idea what people are going through, so when you ask Chrissy [why don’t you have kids] or me that or anybody that, it is none of your frigging business, okay?”

“I’m so tired of seeing on my social media, ‘Why don’t you have kids, why don’t you have kids?’ You don’t know, you don’t know what I’m going through. You have no idea. For a long time, it was so funny, I was 23-years-old, I used to tell myself ‘in three years I’m going to have kids.'”

Tyra has often been an open book about her life, such as when Banks broke down and cried on her own talk show on Wednesday, November 8, 2006. The show was called Professional Athletes and the Women Who Love Them, and Banks spoke about how difficult it was to be the girlfriend of an NBA player, with all the groupies throwing themselves at basketball players. Previously Tyra had dated Chris Webber of the NBA, as seen below when the two attended the Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson fight on June 8, 2002, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Tyra cried over a breakup during the show, and that’s when Jackie Christie, wife of former NBA player Doug Christie, consoled Tyra and spoke of how much her ex loved Tyra.

Tyra famously turned her successful modeling career into an empire that found Banks as the centerpiece of America’s Next Top Model and other ventures. It was through that TV show that Tyra gave her worthwhile modeling tips, and taught people to “smize,” which means to smile with one’s eyes, even if their mouths aren’t smiling. Expect to see Tyra’s smiling eyes much more now that her baby has arrived.
