Nina Dobrev Still Angry With Ian Somerhalder, Regrets ‘Vampire Diaries’?
Nina Dobrev is allegedly still furious with her ex-boyfriend and former co-star Ian Somerhalder. Nina is said to be so angry with Ian that she even regrets her time on The Vampire Diaries, the TV show that launched her career.
According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, Nina Dobrev just can’t seem to forgive Ian Somerhalder for their past together. Many fans know that Nina and Ian dated for years while they worked on The Vampire Diaries together. Ian, who is 10 years older than Nina, seemingly wanted more from the relationship, and the couple split. Not long after, Somerhalder began dating Twilight actress Nikki Reed. The couple quickly married, and Dobrev decided to leave the popular CW TV series.
An insider close to Nina Dobrev claims that the actress has tried to keep her head up, but she can’t stand watching Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed rub their relationship in her face.
“Nina has tried to stay strong watching Ian and Nikki flaunt their relationship in her face, then witnessed them rush to the altar. And now she’s at the point of regretting her time on The Vampire Diaries completely. Nina knows that if she had never done the show, she wouldn’t have fallen in love with Ian in the first place.”
Even though Vampire Diaries fans are desperate to see Nina Dobrev return to the series as Elena Gilbert and be with Ian Somerhalder’s character, Damon Salvatore, it looks like that may never happen, especially since Nina can’t seem to take being around her former flame.
“If the producers asked her to come back to the show, Nina would laugh at them,” the source added.
Vampire Diaries viewers have been holding out hope that Nina Dobrev will soon return to the show, but the actress has made it very clear that she’s moved on from the series and is pursuing other endeavors in her career. However, showrunner Julie Plec says that if Nina ever wanted to come back she would write her back into the show instantly, as the character of Elena is still alive and in a magical slumber that is linked to her best friend Bonnie’s life, meaning that until the day that Bonnie dies, Elena will remain unconscious.
Even if Nina Dobrev never returns to The Vampire Diaries, it seems everyone expects her to at least come back for the series finale. She’ll need to bring some closure to the show and to her relationship with Ian Somerhalder’s character, Damon Salvatore. The long-running series can’t end with its main character in an eternal sleep and leave fans hanging about how it all ends up, right?
However, if Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder are on bad terms, or at the very least awkward exes, it could mean an interesting reunion in the future if Dobrev does return to close up Elena’s story and the rest of the Mystic Falls saga.
As for Nina, she hasn’t just been sitting at home pining away for Ian Somerhalder. The Let’s Be Cops and Perks of Being a Wallflower actress is currently dating actor Austin Stowell, who is making a name for himself in Hollywood with parts in films such as Whiplash and Bridge of Spies. The pair have been dating for months now and seem to be getting a bit more serious as of late. Perhaps Nina Dobrev is trying to put the past behind her and look only toward the future, which doesn’t seem to include Ian Somerhalder or The Vampire Diaries.
