Drake Takes A Break From The Recording Studio Ahead Of Rumored ‘Views From The 6’ Release Date
Drake may be keeping quiet regarding rumors that his highly anticipated studio album, Views From the 6, will be released tonight, but did Drake drop a hint about the album release speculation on Instagram?
Just months after Drake shot down fans’ hopes of a late 2015 release for Views From the 6, new rumors surfaced suggesting that Drake’s upcoming album would arrive on January 6, 2016, given the fact that the date corresponds to the area code of Drake’s native Toronto.
According to Brand New Hip Hop, Drake’s hometown of Toronto has an area code of 416, which is rumored to represent the fact that Views will be Drake’s fourth studio album release, will release in the first month of the year, and will drop on the sixth day of the month.
Despite the heavy speculation regarding a rumored release date for the “Hotline Bling” rapper’s Views From the 6 album, Drake seemingly shut down the claims on Instagram after he shared a video of himself taking a break from recording to play ping-pong with a friend.
“Studio breaks getting serious. Two hand backhand courtesy of @jetbentlee,” Drake wrote on his official Instagram account on Wednesday.
While it’s arguable that Drake could be working on new music that isn’t intended to be featured on Views, fans were quick to express their disappointment over the quickly fading January 6 release date rumors for the album.
One fan took to Twitter to write, “when you waiting for @Drake to drop views from the 6 and he on Instagram playing pingpong,” while another one asks, “Aye yo G, you droppin Views today or you up to somethin again @Drake?”
While speculation continues to suggest that Drake may wait until 6 p.m. EST to drop the album, no confirmation from either Drake or his OVO crew has surfaced in regard to the release rumors.
The news comes just days after Drake told partygoers during his New Year’s Eve bash in Miami that Views From the 6 is coming in the near future.

While ringing in the New Year at E11even nightclub in Miami on Thursday, Drake gave fans an update on his progress towards completing the impending album while confessing that Views is “coming very soon,” Vibe reports.
Just months prior, Drake confessed to the Fader during his cover story interview that his new album would be arriving “imminently,” although he neglected to offer even a tentative date for Views’ release.
The rumors come just weeks after DJ Akademiks took to Twitter to share what was initially believed to be a preview of Drake’s upcoming album. However, it was later determined to either be a new collaboration with Rihanna or a reference track for the “B**** Better Have My Money” singer.
“Remember that Snippet I tweeted out with Drake singing?? Turns out roc nation on behalf of Rihanna sent over notice to remove..Us ur brain,” DJ Akademiks explained to his Twitter followers after removing the alleged Views preview.
When asked to elaborate on Rihanna’s request to remove the audio preview of Drake, DJ Akademiks went on to speculate, “Basically, that song either not on Views or a collab wit Rihanna but could even be a reference for Rihanna..Who Knows.”
While it’s possible that Drake could be taking a break from recording a new collaboration instead of putting the finishing touches on Views From the 6, it looks like fans will continue to be on the lookout for any news from Drake regarding the album’s upcoming release.
