WWE News: Update On Vince McMahon Character Returning To Regular WWE Programming
WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has been known as one of the greatest characters in professional wrestling history. He might not be seen as much as he used to be, but when the boss comes on television, you pay attention. Whether it is his rarity or his simple ability to keep us interested, even in his older age, when Vince shows up for programming, ratings go up.
This much has been proven the last number of times he has been on WWE programming this year. The last two WWE RAW episodes were the highest viewed shows since this past summer. So the question is, should the Vince McMahon character return to WWE programming if nothing more than the fact that he has proven that he can help draw people in?
According to Daily Wrestling News, there was a lot of speculation that WWE might go through with the idea of bringing Vince back as a character on a regular basis. He is already at every single event, so it would not be any more of a stretch for him to work the show than it would be any other day for him. Interestingly enough, the much loved December 14, RAW that saw Roman Reigns win the WWE World Heavyweight Title was not always planned the way it was.

The Vince return was said to be a last minute deal that was made that weekend, which helped as Triple H went down to Reigns at the WWE TLC PPV the night prior. It was thought that Vince helped to make that show great, and his appearance throughout the event from the middle to the end kept people tuned in. Vince was said to have been very pleased with how the initial return went, which led him to believe that returning wouldn’t be as bad of a plan as he once thought.
Vince has felt that he was too old to be a regular character anymore, and he wanted to hand the authoritarian role to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. While both have done admirably as authority figures, there is only one Vince McMahon at the end of the day.
While it is unknown what Vince McMahon thought of his appearance this past week on WWE RAW, there are at least a few who believe that the performance fell flat compared to the initial return weeks ago. Vince is set to be part of the first WWE RAW show of the year as Roman Reigns has to defend his newly won WWE World Heavyweight Title match against Sheamus. Vince will be the special guest referee for the match, which makes many wonder if “the fix” is in for Sheamus to take the title from Reigns.
Sheamus is owed his rematch for the WWE World Title, but if he loses to Reigns on RAW then it would make many wonder who Reigns’ Royal Rumble opponent for the title will be since he obviously will defend it at the event.
Since Reigns clearly does not have anyone else to face that would make sense outside of Sheamus, there is a good shot that Vince McMahon helps to screw over Roman Reigns to allow Sheamus another reign with the WWE World Title. The two would then obviously face off at the Royal Rumble PPV which would end the rivalry most likely.
Regardless of how things go for Roman Reigns, Sheamus, and the WWE World Heavyweight Title on WWE RAW, Vince McMahon still is the big story here. Having him back as a regular character would be an interesting turn of events. This is especially true in WrestleMania season. Could Vince have a big role leading into WrestleMania 32? Time will tell. One thing we know Vince will not do is wrestle, however, don’t expect him to be against taking big spots.
