Celebrity Adoptions: Sandra Bullock & ‘Teen Mom’ Farrah Abraham Dish As Caitlyn Jenner & Duggars May Adopt
From actress Sandra Bullock to Teen Mom star Farrah Abraham, celebrity adoptions came into the spotlight in 2015. Add in rumors of stars ranging from members of the Duggar family to Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner prior to her publicized transition to a transgender woman), and it appears that adoption has become an increasingly popular option among celebrities.
For Sandra, however, choosing to publicize adoption also came with a desire to raise awareness of foster care, reported Time. Bullock adopted her son Louis in 2010, and now she has adopted Laila, who at 3-and-a-half-years-old is from Louisiana. Previously in foster care, the little girl almost didn’t get adopted because of the paparazzi who stalked Sandra and attempted to profit from the pictures they took without permission.
“Most foster children are in foster care because they were taken from their birth homes under tragic circumstances—and the last thing I wanted was to bring more harm to her because of the nature of my job,” revealed Bullock.
Sandra credits her son Louis for helping Laila adjust to her new home.
“Louis spearheaded this whole journey,” said Bullock. “I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I weren’t going anywhere.”
Recalling what happened with the paparazzi, Sandra emphasized how important it is to keep children safe and secure in the adoption process, reported People.
“Unbeknownst to me, a photographer had followed us and taken a photo of us in line,” said Bullock. “The next day, I learned that a photo of her was being shopped around for sale to every outlet around the world. I had promised and legally agreed to protect her from something like this, and here I was chasing down lawyers — having them begging them to keep her safe.”
Sandra noted that the majority of children in foster care were removed from their birth families to keep them safe, and her key focus was on not harming the little girl due to the high-profile position she has an actress.
Teen Mom Star Farrah Abraham Plans Adoption
Farrah Abraham, known for her role on Teen Mom OG, also is candid about her upcoming adoption plans, reported Us Weekly. She’s in the process of adopting a child.
“I’m happy to confirm I’m moving forward in my adoption process. This means I will be making some changes in my career to welcome a new addition to my family,” revealed Farrah. “Very excited, and this feels so right. I’m very blessed for this opportunity.”
Abraham is the single mother to Sophia. The 6-year-old’s father was killed in a car accident just two months prior to her birth. However, Farrah has faced some backlash for her decision to play the role of Tooth Fairy to the tune of over $1,300 per one tooth as well as permitting Sophia to have her own social media accounts. A recent clip showed Abraham’s daughter hitting her mom and tossing items around a room.
“Sometimes you’re immature, and you’re selfish, and you don’t think about other people but yourself,” scolded Farrah.
Caitlyn Jenner Plans Adoption?
Is Caitlyn Jenner adopting in 2016? A source told Radar Online that the transgender star views 2016 as a fresh start on her life and believes that she can be a great parent through adoption.
“Caitlyn insists she’s perfectly secure whether she’s single or not,” said the source. “She does miss raising kids and says she has so much love to give.”
At this point, Jenner is seeking input from experts to learn her options for adoption, whether it’s a baby in the United States or overseas.
“She’s aware it could take some time, but she definitely wants to be a mom and believes this is the right time in her life to do this,” added Radar’s insider.
Jill & Jessa Plan Adoption Rather Than Give Birth To 19 Kids Like The Duggars Matriarch?
Add Jill and Jessa Duggar to the list of celebrities hinting at adoption plans, reported People.
Prior to having her baby at home, Jessa chatted about adoption. She and Ben have talked about the option previously. When they visited with neighbors who have adopted and biological kids, Ben revealed he’d like to have 15 sons, which his wife later described as an “awesome” idea.
And her older sister Jill and husband Derick also dished on adoption. Derick revealed why it’s especially meaningful to him.
“We can definitely relate to Jessa and Ben’s desire to adopt and want to just meet those [kids’] needs. I think we would definitely consider the idea of adoption. My mom’s adopted, so it kind of hits home with me. We both think it’s a wonderful thing. We’ve talked about it a lot, and we’re definitely considering it.”
And the sisters aren’t the only Duggars considering adoption.
Michelle & Jim Bob Duggar Consider Polishing Family Image By Making It 20 Kids Through Adoption
Jim Bob and Michelle have 19 kids and a year filled with sex scandals resulting from their oldest son Josh. So they feel that a possible way to polish their image is through adoption, reported Radar Online, which cites a source that said it could happen in 2016.
“They’ve been mulling it over for a long time, and they feel the time is right to get legal advice and get the process underway,” said that source. “They’re looking to adopt a child in the New Year.”
Any preference for a little boy or girl or ethnicity?
“Michelle says she doesn’t care if they adopt a boy or a girl, or what ethnicity the child is,” added the source. “She says she just wants to help a child’s life.”
