Selena Gomez Talks Lupus & Chemotherapy: Signs She’ll Renew Romance With Justin Bieber — Sorry, Niall Horan [Video]
Selena Gomez survived a tumultuous, highly-publicized breakup with Justin Bieber and rampant rumors about why she was taking a hiatus from her singing career. Now, the pop singer is making a comeback and, in the process, getting candid about her battle with lupus, as well as the treatment that included chemotherapy, reported the Los Angeles Times.
Although Selena continues to cope with lupus, she’s not yet learned to feel confident in discussing her health, she admitted.
“The response has been very supportive, which is nice — but it still makes me a little uncomfortable,” Gomez confessed.
“I waited for the right time to talk about it because I am in a great place and I’m very healthy. I’m not trying to be loud about it: It was time to use my platform to help,” explained Gomez.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease, and Selena recently revealed that her hiatus and time in rehab in 2013 resulted from going through chemotherapy for her disease. That reality is a dramatic contrast to the rumors that Gomez had entered rehab because she abused substances.
“I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke,” added Selena.
“I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy… I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.”
Selena is honest in expressing her resentment of those rumors about substance abuse, but credits the “hate” for providing her with the motivation for a “Revival.” As for using her platform to raise awareness of lupus, the autoimmune disease is categorized as chronic, with the potential to harm the body’s organs, joints, or skin. Symptoms range from hair loss to rashes, including exhaustion, headaches, joint pain, and fever.
The Lupus Foundation of America cites statistics indicating that 1.5 million or more Americans have been diagnosed with the condition.
Niall Horan Heats Up Hook-Up With Selena Gomez With This Gift
Christmas is traditionally a time for loved ones to show their love with a meaningful gift. So Niall Horan tried to live up to that tradition with a very unusual gift for Selena, reported the Irish Times.
Why go shopping at a store or online when you can just look in your closet? That was apparently Niall’s vision because he gifted Gomez with a favored T-shirt in which to have sweet dreams, revealed a source quoted by the Irish Times.
“Before Selena and Niall went their separate ways for Christmas, he wrapped up one of his favourite white T-shirts and gave it to Selena to sleep in,” shared the insider.
Hope For Beliebers In Jelena
So is there any hope for those who “belieb” in Jelena? Several signs that the romance between Bieber and Gomez could be reignited have recently emerged.

A signal that Justin still cares came when the 21-year-old pop star learned what Niall had given to Selena, reported the Hollywood Gossip, which cites an insider revealing that the Biebs blew up and ordered that the hook-up between Horan and Gomez be halted.
“[Justin] is furious with Niall for going behind his back and stealing Selena from him,” added that insider.
The same source also claims that Bieber texted Niall with furious messages regarding “the Selena situation.”
In addition, as the Inquisitr reported, when Selena learned that Justin was hooking up with Kourtney Kardashian, she became furious. Gomez revealed how much she still cares by obsessing about it and talking about Bieber’s new affair constantly to friends.
Sweet Serenade To Seduce Selena
And that’s not all. Just last month, Jelena beliebers renewed their hope when Gomez and the Biebs were seen in a Beverly Hills hotel bar. Romance lovers sighed happily when videos appeared revealing Justin sweetly serenading Selena with “My Girl” and “Sorry,” reported People.
“@JustinBieber singing my girl to @SelenaGomez….is this real? Pure magic,” posted a fan.
Both celebrities have recently commented on their continued affection for each other.
“[I will] forever support him and love him,” stated Selena, keeping the door open on the potential of a renewed romance.
The Biebs also shared that they stay in touch and he still adores Gomez.
“I’m never going to stop loving her. I’m never going to stop checking in on her. We always respected each other and we still respect each other… I think we both gotta do some soul searching ourselves, and figure out ourselves before we can just try to figure out each out each other.”
