Calum Hood Has A Bad Day: Fans Go Into Meltdown

5 Seconds of Summer star Calum Hood and his bandmates have had a busy few weeks. Calum has traversed the globe with Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, and Ashton Irwin, promoting the second 5 Seconds of Summer album, Sounds Good, Feels Good, and it seems that the pressure may be getting to the 19-year-old star. Hood has had a very busy year with a major world tour, recording and now promoting 5 Seconds of Summer’s sophomore album.

The relentless touring, endless interviews, and the rounds of award shows can take their toll on any artist, and it may be that Hood desperately needs a break. Calum’s fans certainly think so. Last night, Calum posted a message on Twitter that seems to indicate that all is not well with the young star. Hood deleted the message almost immediately but, as is often claimed the moment something reaches the internet, it is there forever.

In the deleted tweet, Hood said that “one day I will leave and live a normal life.” Whilst the message was only on Twitter for a few minutes, that was long enough for fans to take screenshots and circulate the message to Calum’s fans. As soon as Calum’s message started to circulate, fans began trending the hashtag #WeLoveYouCalum.

Fans showed their concern for Calum by posting messages telling Hood how much he meant to them. As reported recently by Redbrick, 5 Seconds of Summer’s recent release deals with a range of serious issues, including anxiety and depression. Hood’s bandmate, Ashton Irwin, has talked openly about his depression, so Calum’s fans are clearly concerned for his mental health.

As concern for Hood’s welfare spread, fans were soon telling Hood how much he meant to them. One fan tweeted a message to Hood, expressing how concerned she was for the pain Calum must be in.

“When I saw your Tweet about leaving I cried a lot. I thought about how much it would hurt me and other fans if you left. Then I thought about how much pain you must be in to tweet a Tweet like that. That hurts even more.”

As the day has gone on, Calum’s fans have filled Twitter with pictures of Hood smiling and being happy. In the past, Hood’s bandmate, Michael Clifford, has said that Calum is generally the one who helps to keep the rest of the band happy when times are tough.

Just last week, there were hints that all might not be well with Hood. The Daily Mail reported that, unusually for them, Hood and Luke Hemmings ignored fans as they left a Good Charlotte concert in L.A., California. Hood and his bandmates normally pause to sign autographs and have pictures taken with fans. On this occasion, Hood and Hemmings ignored fans.

According to Unreality TV, Hood recently told the Daily Record that he was too busy for dating and that he doesn’t have a girlfriend in his life at present. For Calum and his bandmates, maintaining relationships can be a real nightmare when you have a schedule as busy as theirs. In just the last couple of weeks, Hood and 5 Seconds of Summer have made promotional appearances from Australia, to the U.K. and then on to the United States.

Hood’s schedule is daunting and exhausting. Having just spent six months on the road, Calum and the rest of 5 Seconds of Summer will be hitting the road in February for a massive world tour that runs through until the end of October. To date, Hood and 5SOS are booked to play an eye-popping 95 dates on their tour.

If Hood is a little down contemplating that schedule, you could hardly blame him.
