Lamar Odom Health Update: Unaware Of How He Sustained Brain Damage?

Lamar Odom spent his Thanksgiving holiday in the hospital, and he’s not expected to leave the facility anytime soon. According to a November 27 report by Mstarz, Lamar Odom still has a very long road to recovery, and he may never be back to his old self.

However, Lamar Odom wasn’t alone for the holiday. According to Radar Online, he got a very special visit from his children, Destiny Odom, 17, and Lamar Odom Jr., 13, as well as his ex-girlfriend, Liza Morales.

In a second report on November 27, via Rapid News Network, it was noted that Lamar Odom was actually “unaware” of what led to his brain injury. According to Lamar Odom’s wife, Khloé Kardashian, her former partner doesn’t ask why he’s in the hospital; although he is aware of his mental and physical limitations, he does not know why or how he sustained them.

It was also revealed that Lamar Odom was undergoing physical therapy in order to address the damage done to his extremities after he reportedly suffered several strokes after an alleged drug overdose.

On October 13, Lamar Odom was hospitalized in Las Vegas after being found unconscious at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada, where he had allegedly been partying for days with a number of women. From there, Lamar Odom was transferred to the Cedars Sinai Medical Center, which was closer to his wife’s home.

Earlier this month, weeks after Lamar Odom was hospitalized, TMZ shared a shocking report, claiming the former NBA player likely suffered “serious brain damage,” and was unable to recognize members of his family and some friends. According to TMZ‘s source, Lamar Odom was struggling to communicate and hadn’t made much progress in the weeks since he was transported from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.

The source added that Lamar Odom was “only able to speak a word here and there.”

On November 24, a source spoke to People Magazine, revealing the extensive damage done to Lamar Odom, and offering a bleak prognosis for his upcoming recovery.

“[Lamar Odom] has made some progress, but his cognitive impairment is making life very challenging,” an insider explained, adding that Lamar Odom is not yet able to walk unassisted, and continues to have a tough time communicating verbally.

“[Lamar Odom] won’t likely leave the hospital for a long time, and when he does, he will need full time care. He can’t take care of himself… [Lamar Odom] has serious longterm and lasting issues. His life will never be the same as it once was.”

As Lamar Odom continues to recover little by little, Kardashian has remained at his side, but unfortunately, according to a Hollywood Life report, not everyone is grateful about her involvement in his medical care.

“[Lamar Odom]’s family and many of his friends do not like Khloe. They have their noses out of joint because she’s in control… They worry that [Lamar Odom]’s children aren’t getting their dad’s attention because of Khloe. They appreciate what she did, but now think it’s time for her to step aside.”

While the source claimed Lamar Odom’s children may not be getting enough attention, that likely isn’t a result of his wife’s involvement, but rather the fact that they live on the east coast with their mother, and need to remain in New York for school.

“[Lamar Odom] loves his children and his family, but he knows he wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for Khloe,” added the source. “He is still leaning on her. He’s really caught between a rock and a hard place trying to make everyone happy.”
