?Is Ariana Grande A Diva? ‘Sam And Cat’ Costsar Jenette McCurdy Reveals The Real Reason Their Show Was Cancelled After 1 Season
Although Ariana Grande’s rise to fame has been marked with a good deal of success in both television and music, the actress/singer has faced a fair share of criticism, as well. Most recently, rumors have surfaced that Grande is a bit of a diva to work with. Her former Sam and Cat co-star, Jennette McCurdy, recently sat down with Vulture and discussed the show’s controversial cancellation.
As fans will recall, Sam and Cat was cancelled after only one season, which led to plenty of speculation that a feud between Grande and McCurdy was one reason why the iCarly spin-off met an untimely end. Since then, this rumor has only added to Grande’s reputation for being a demanding person to work with.
However, McCurdy cleared things up in the interview, and blamed the fallout on emotions stemming from the show’s cancellation. In particular, the actress explained how these emotions were magnified after news of the cancellation surfaced.“It was somewhat dramatic,” McCurdy stated in the telling interview. “Emotions were running high, and a lot of that was just blown up because so many people found out about the show ending.”
According to E! Online, there were a multitude of reasons why the show was cancelled, and none of them were based on fighting between McCurdy and Grande. This was contrary to the rumors that McCurdy and Grande were constantly fighting on the set of the show and it seemed to downplay the notion of Grande as a super diva.
That being said, McCurdy was certainly the source of a lot of controversy during the show’s short run, including the provocative photos of her that were released by Andre Drummond and her highly-publicized relationship with Paul Glaser. Additionally, McCurdy was also dealing with the passing of her mother, Debra, while filming was underway for Sam and Cat.“I felt like it would’ve done so much if somebody would’ve just f—ing – sorry… It would’ve done so much if somebody would’ve just given me a hug,” McCurdy said on dealing with her mother’s death. “And I hope that that’s something I can take with myself and acknowledge when somebody else is having a really hard time, that sometimes it’s like, give a person a break, you know?”
Meanwhile, despite the show’s cancellation and subsequent controversy, Grande is getting ready to explore new career opportunities beyond her music and television work. According to Venture Capital Post, this includes Grande’s newest fragrance, Ari.
In preparation for the release of her new scent, Ariana Grande created a music video, titled “Focus.” In addition to the new video, which really is more of a short film than anything else, Grande is also getting ready to appear in the 2015 American Music Awards. Grande will be performing her new single during the event, in which she will join a number of musical stars, including Macklemore, Coldplay, Justin Bieber, Ryan Lewis, and Gwen Stefani. Jennifer Lopez is set to host the award ceremony.
The new fragrance line marks the first time Grande has been involved in this type of business, and shows how willing she is to expand her current body of work. Her newest fragrance is described as packaged in a pink bottle adorned with pompoms. Additionally, the fragrance can be purchased in a number of different scents, including vanilla orchid, marshmallow, and raspberry.
Although the success of her new fragrance is still to be determined, Grande has clearly done well considering all she has gone through in her short career. While the debate is still ongoing whether or not Grande is a diva, the actress is clearly moving on with her life despite these speculations.
