‘Star Wars The Force Awakens’: Abrams Reveals New Super Weapon As New Rumors Swirl On Who Dies Next
With only 31 days to go until the premiere of the new Star Wars movie The Force Awakens, director J. J. Abrams revealed a new piece in the new movie puzzle. Although there has been a lot of speculation on the disappearance of Luke Skywalker from the current movie posters, and the real relationship between antagonist Kylo Ren and Rey, the latest movie revelation takes the Star Wars universe to the latest level with a new Death Star.
As reported in Hit Fix, director J. J. Abrams revealed to Entertainment Weekly the role the new Death Star 3.0 will play.
The new Death Star, named Star Killer, is named after Luke Skywalker’s original moniker. It is far more lethal than the original Death Star, which had the ability to wipe out a single planet. Instead of just wiping out a planet at a time, the new Death Star has the power to destroy an entire galaxy. The new Death Star will be commanded by General Hux, portrayed by Domhnall Gleeson. Abrams revealed no further details, although he released new photos of an unnamed ice planet where the First Order and the resistance will do battle.“It is very much — and it’s acknowledged as such in the movie — apparently another Death Star. But what it’s capable of, how it works, and what the threat is, is far greater than what the Death Star could have done. Starkiller Base is another step forward, technologically speaking, in terms of power.”
As previously reported in the Inquisitr, there has been a lot of speculation as to the death of a one of the major characters from the previous installments. Some fans have speculated that Han Solo will die, while others speculated that Chewbacca will die. A prequel based on the life of Han Solo is due in May 2017, which may reveal the relationship between Han Solo and Chewbacca. The release of new movie trailers has increased the speculation about what will happen to the characters as well as the details of the movie plot.
According to The Week, fan speculation is once again high over which characters will die in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. They listed four different characters fans believe have the potential to die.
The top character listed was Han Solo. According to George Lucas, Harrison Ford had asked to be killed off after the fifth movie installment, The Empire Strikes Back.
The next character who may bite the dust is General Hux, a ruthless young officer of the First Order. Critics argued that Hux would meet the same fate as General Grievous, and the shortest life expectancy in a Star Wars film belongs to Imperial officers. The third character fans speculated would die is Luke Skywalker. Skywalker has been conspicuously absent from the movie posters and Wired said it’s possible Luke is gone for good.
“One doesn’t wield lightsabers, race scout ships, and go head to head with evil Sith lords without upping the risk to his or her life.”
The final character that may face death is Chewbacca. In one of the scenes from the trailer, Daisy Ridley’s character Rey is seen grief-filled as she bends over a character who looks like Chewbacca. Movie Pilot pointed to another scene in the trailers where it appeared that Chewbacca detonated a bomb.
“The resulting explosion is powerful enough to blast several people from their feet, so as mighty as the wookie is could he really survive such a blast?”
Regardless, fans will have to wait another month to find out who lives and who dies in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The movie is set to premiere in the United States on December 18. It premieres in Great Britain on December 17 and in France on December 16.
