Watch Justin Bieber Blush On ‘Ellen,’ Talk Selena Gomez, Nude Pics: Perform ‘Sorry’
Justin Bieber has opened up about those paparazzi-taken nude shots and his former girlfriend, Selena Gomez, with his old friend Ellen DeGeneres.
On Monday, the comedienne-host and the singer kicked off “Bieber Week” on DeGeneres’ show with an interview and acoustic snippet of the heartthrob’s newish single “Sorry.” This is all happening amid the four-day countdown to the November 13 release of the Biebs’ album Purpose. On Friday, the heartthrob will perform a concert on the program.
After banter about Justin’s visit to Iceland to film a music video for his new single (“I’ll Show You”), Ellen asked the 21-year-old how he did not spot the paparazzi during his vacation at a private resort in Bora Bora, which led to full-frontal photos of him being taken without his consent or knowledge. Naked pics of Bieber were leaked online shortly after the New York Daily News published censored snaps last month.
“Well, I just didn’t see them [paparazzi],” Bieber told his host as a giant screen flashed up a blurry nude shot of the singer. “I think I wasn’t really looking out for them either — so.”
Asked if he found out more about the photogs’ location after the event, the Canadian said, “Yeah, they’re definitely in a boat, yeah.” DeGeneres then asked how quickly he learned about the horrendous privacy violation.
“Um, it was pretty much like…a couple days later,” Justin replied. “Scooter [Braun, his manager] hit me. He was like ‘Yo I hate to tell you this, but your penis is on the Internet.’ I was like, ‘what?'”
The singer continued, “So, the first thing I saw was, like, the censored one and it had like the black thing over it. And I’m like ‘oh my goodness!’ like I don’t know what this is gonna look like.” The hitmaker went on, “And then it wasn’t like as bad as I thought it was gonna be. It wasn’t as terrible.”
“Well, I’m no expert, but I heard that it was good,” DeGeneres chimed in, brilliantly playing to the gallery. “It was alright,” Bieber joked back.
The host then grilled the “What Do You Mean?” singer about Jayde Pierce, the Brit model/blogger who accompanied Justin to Bora Bora and was seen wearing a dressing gown in pictures while he walked around naked.
Hilarity and the Bieb’s blushes ensued when he was asked if Pierce was his girlfriend. “No, it’s not,” he replied, in a New York heartbeat.
“Just a girl that you were in Bora Bora with?” DeGeneres pressed her guest. The clearly uncomfortable pop star replied, “Just a friend, yeah.”
Gleefully, she continued to turn the screws, asking the singer, “You just brought a friend to Bora Bora?”
Justin’s “yeah” was quickly swallowed by Ellen’s next zinger: “And you’re just naked with your friend?”
“Why are you putting me on the spot like this, gosh?” the Biebs pleaded.
But she persisted, saying, “I mean, you can say, why can’t you say you’re dating somebody?”
“I’m not dating anyone though,” Justin insisted.
DeGeneres swept on, asking, “She’s just a friend?”
“She’s just a friend,” the Biebs repeated, looking at the floor then whispering “Stop” to his tormentor.
Incredulously, Ellen continued, “Wow! I have friends. I’ve never seen them naked like that. And they don’t bring me to Bora Bora.”
Resigned to embarrassment, Justin covered his face in his hands and begged her, “Stop. You’re making me blush, dude.”
Bieber’s benignly-achieved blushes weren’t spared in another part of the interview when his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez, was brought up.
The two talked about which songs his album are inspired by Gomez. On prompting, Bieber agreed that his two hits “What Do You Mean?,” “Sorry,” and (also Purpose track) “Mark My Words” either touch on or are about his romance with Gomez.
After DeGeneres said it had to be tough to split from a first love with everyone watching, the Biebs said certain things remind him of Selena. Quick as a flash, Ellen jokingly asked if he “told that girl in Bora Bora that stuff.”
Asked point blank whether he could see himself reuniting with Gomez or if that was a hope, Bieber was candid.
“Maybe,” he said, then explained, “We have a lot of history together, and so I am sure, I mean, it possibly could happen.”
Musing, Justin said, “I think we’re both just on our own journeys of just figuring ourselves out, and I think maybe once we figure ourselves out, we can come together and make an awesome duo. Or… she’ll find someone awesome and I’ll find someone awesome. I just want her to be happy, honestly.”
The singer went on to sing an acoustic version of “Sorry”.
He also took part in a face-off quiz, watch it below. Verdict on Day 1 of #BieberWeek ahead of Purpose?
Highly enjoyable viewing, and Ellen DeGeneres could moonlight as an CIA interrogator.
