Khloe Kardashian Shares Her Diet Secrets, Says She Was ‘A Mindless Eater. I Ate When I Was Unhappy’
Although Khloe Kardashian has been very open about her fitness practices in the past, the reality star recently revealed more details about the diet that helped her lose 35 lbs. of weight. Kardashian revealed all her dieting secrets in her new book, Strong Looks Better Naked.
According to People, Kardashian admitted that she used to have poor eating habits that led to an increase in weight. While most people eat for the pleasure of food, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star revealed that she ate without thinking and when she was unhappy.
“I was a mindless eater. I ate for comfort. I also ate out of boredom and habit. I ate when I was unhappy (which I’m sure many of you can relate to). I even ate chips because I love the crunchy sound they make. And I didn’t give much thought to what I was eating, or what I was putting inside my body, except hummus, of course, which is one of my weaknesses.”
Kardashian also discussed how her diet was filled with nachos and other bad food while she was dating Los Angeles Lakers star Lamar Odom. This was mainly due to the fact that she attended all of his home games and had to rely on food at the stadium, which is not always a healthy option.
However, once she started to work out, she had a revelation that changed how she approached eating. Once she better understood the relationship between diet and exercise, Kardashian began to pay more attention to what she was putting into her body.“It wasn’t until I began to work out in earnest that I became aware of what I was eating. When I became more mindful about exercise, I became more mindful about eating,” she explained. “This is the only body I have. Why am I treating it so badly? And what am I going to do about it?”
That being said, Kardashian admitted that she isn’t big on dieting. In fact, the reality star doesn’t put much faith in the latest dieting fads.
“I think most diets are torture, which is why I don’t believe in them. But, as is true with exercise, when you make a change and feel the benefits, you want to stick with it,” Kardashian wrote in her book. “And you know what else? If I want a piece of cake one night, I’ll have my piece of cake!”Kardashian took this a step further and told her readers not to diet at all. Instead, she advised her fans who want to lose weight to make small changes to their habits rather than drastically changing everything they consume.
“When you diet, you are basically setting yourself up for failure. I mean, the word die is in there! You’re not allowing yourself to enjoy the food you love, and it will only make you want it that much more,” Kardashian stated. “Make smart lifestyle changes, one baby step at a time.”
Although she might not spend a lot of time dieting, Kardashian does put a lot of hard work in at the gym, which is one of the big reasons why she has been able to stay fit for so long. Luckily for fans, the reality isn’t shy about her workouts and recently posted a video of her working with her personal trainer, Gunnar Peterson on Instagram.
The video features Kardashian performing a number of different lifts and exercises while working with Peterson. “I’m back with a BRAND NEW KhloFIT just for you guys!!!” Kardashian wrote alongside the video. “Watch & workout w/ me and @gunnarfitness my app!!”
